How many hits can a baseball team get in 1 inning without scoring a run? And how?

Without googleing, I think it’s 7? And involves the last batter hitting a ground ball into a runner, which by rule is a hit and an out.

So 3 singles, next batter hits runner at third causing 1 out and 4 hits. Repeat 2 more times equals 6.

6? With 3 singles, bases loaded and 3 subsequent hits with throw outs at home.

Unless this is something quirky like their pitcher giving up infinity hits to the other team while scoring none during their at bat.

His MOTHER is the surgeon.

EDIT: Couldn't it be infinte? 3 singles. Then a base hit with catcher interference during the play at the plate over... and over... and over...

EDIT 2: Not interference. Causing egregious contact.

EDIT 3: Nevermind. I missed the "without scoring a run" part. I can't read. His mother is still the surgeon.

I would guess that the first two guys up to the plate would single and then get picked off.

The three outs at the plate would not be hits, they're fielder's choice.

Two singles, runners picked out. Next thing batters hit a single. Last ball hits a base-runner, batter get credit for a hit but it's still an out.

I don’t know but LSU will never find that out because as soon as we get a runner on first, Mainieri can’t resist bunting.

That would still be 6. First two get hits, get picked off. Next 3 get singles equalling 5. Next guy hits a runner getting a hit and causes the third out.

Six

Hit - batter to 1st
Hit - 1st & 2nd
Hit - 1st & 2nd & 3rd
Out - 3rd tries to steal home
Hit - 1st & 2nd & 3rd
Out - 3rd tries to steal home
Hit - 1st & 2nd & 3rd
Hit & Out - ball hits a base-runner

Or some combination thereof. I can't think of how you'd get more.

That would be a fielder's choice, not a hit. I am gonna say 6. 3 singles and then 3 more hits where the runner is either hit with the ball or a player would score but misses the baseand is ruled out on appeal.
