Baker cop/gun range owner arrested for yanking wife out of car by her hair

ETHEL — A Zachary police reserve officer – and owner of two shooting ranges in Baker – was arrested Sunday night after a chaotic, violent encounter with his wife, according to East Feliciana Sheriff’s Office records.

David Troy Viccellio, 53, of Ethel, was booked into East Feliciana Parish jail with false imprisonment and two counts of domestic abuse battery. He remained in jail Monday afternoon with bond set at $80,000.

The sheriff’s office got a call about 5:45 p.m. Sunday from Viccellio’s daughter’s boyfriend, who said Viccellio and his wife were physically fighting. Before deputies arrived, they learned that Viccellio’s wife and daughter, along with the daughter’s boyfriend, had left the family’s home in the 2600 block of La. Hwy 957 in Ethel and were waiting for deputies at a nearby business, Viccellio’s arrest warrant said.

Deputies found them in two vehicles at the business with “all three crying hysterically,” the arrest warrant said.

They said Viccellio was drunk and had an argument with his wife. He is accused of spitting on her and putting “his forehead against her forehead” and “attempting to push her with his head,” the warrant said.

She hit him in the face to get him to back off, deputies said.

Deputies were told that Viccellio allegedly went after his wife again and their daughter tried to pull him away. Viccellio is accused of throwing his daughter to the ground, the warrant said.

At that point, the two women asked the boyfriend to call 911 and they tried to leave. The warrant said Viccellio had parked his pickup truck in a way that made it difficult for them to drive away.

Viccellio’s wife and daughter got into a Jeep, with the daughter driving. Viccellio is accused of trying to yank his wife out of the Jeep by her hair and telling his daughter that if she tried to drive away, he would shove her mother under the vehicle so it would run over her, the warrant said.

His daughter tried to leave anyway, but the Jeep went backward, which caused it to hit her boyfriend’s Jeep. The movement caused Viccellio to lose his grip on the daughter’s Jeep and he fell to the ground, the warrant said.

That enabled the wife, daughter and daughter’s boyfriend to get away, the warrant said.

Viccellio contacted sheriff’s deputies to say that he needed to report domestic violence, the warrant said. He had left the house in Ethel and gone to a house in Baker. He reported to deputies that his wife threw a cell phone that hit him in the chest and punched him. He also said he was dragged behind the Jeep, the warrant said.

Deputies had Viccellio meet them at the East Feliciana Parish jail.

When he arrived at the jail, deputies noted that he had a black eye and scratches. The warrant called the injuries “consistent with that of someone having been in a physical altercation, but not necessarily wounds or markings consistent with one defending themselves.”

Viccellio was arrested after a discussion with deputies about what had happened that evening, the warrant said.

His wife and daughter did not need medical treatment for any injuries, the warrant said.
