There may not be single right way to boil crawfish, but there is definitely a wrong way to do it

My cousin’s in laws are from laffy and they dust. Worse, whenever I boil crawfish at family events they tell me I need to do it.

Thank god he got a divorce…

rom the dusting after the boil to the rubber gloves to eat. Just a bad look for for the USL brand.

I know some guys, old ones from Eunice and they always dust them when they pour them into ice chests. I guess if you get those seasonings on your hands as you peal them you get it on the meat as well. Your pecker too, so I get the gloves as well.

Dusting in large boils helps for a number of reasons and I saw one person wearing gloves while eating and she may been a volunteer server

With that much dusting going on, they should be wearing eye protection in case a wind gust blows it back in their faces.

I'd hate for them to get all teary or sneezy.

Don’t get me wrong I like Peterson and he’s right - but the janky arse red beans, gumbo, and boxed jambalaya he posts on his feed don’t provide him any room to critique lol.

Naw man, that burn is pretty much only from the dusting of extra seasoning on the crawfish in the ice chest. If you put your seasonings in the water like it should be, with some cut up lemons, your contacts won't burn from just one simple hand wash. Been wearing contacts for 30 years, and I only get burned by North La "steam and dust" crawfish boils. You can also rub your hands with lemons or lemon juice and it does the same trick. The lemons aren't just for flavor podnuh.

I’m from Lafayette and I don’t know a single person who dusts their crawfish for at-home boils. It’s not some super prevalent thing here

Comfirmation that Lafayette is the Guido Pretender Capital of the state.
Laffayette is the place where every trend sticks around a solid decade and a half past it's expiration date everywhere else.

He prefers to put butter and mustard on top of his crawfish.

There weren't very many people eating that had gloves on. I think I may have only seen one. Mostly those serving were wearing the gloves.

Dusting - yeah, that's something that is not done around here. Not sure if it helps or hurts the taste, so I won't comment.

The one thing that is a pet peeve of mine when it comes to these big crawfish boils is putting them in those little paper/cardboard trays. I can see you have to do that at something like Jazz Fest since you're selling them. But at a home boil or at a big gathering like this, I think lining the crawfish up in mounds on the middle of the tables is the way to go.

Or you could just wash your hands before you touch either one
Like most people have been doing for years.

okay, I'm going to say it, at the risk of a permanent ban, there's nothing wrong with dusting crawfish
