Just an absolutely pathetic and embarrassing way to cook crawfish.

The irony is that a bunch of people who have probably never stepped foot in a crawfish field are in this thread judging how people from Acadiana are cooking crawfish

It’s also ironic that BR and NOLA typically get shite crawfish sent to them compared to what you can get around Crowley/ Acadiana area

I always wear gloves when eating crawfish and I have for more years than I can count. We always had boxes of them at crawfish boils for guests who wanted to use them. Many did, even men. I don't care what anyone else thinks about it. If it bothers you, YOU are the one with the problem.

Wrong.

Dusting is hilariously wrong.

From the dusting after the boil

Imagine taking the advice of the flagship universities ag center on dusting crawfish after the boil.

I have seen this done at an LSU Family Foundation outing as well (about to have my second LSU graduate).

rubber gloves to eat.

I do this (my old cracked-up hands don't like that pepper anymore) as does my wife's whole family (they're from Arnaudville). Bonus, I don't have to worry that I did a less-than-stellar job washing my hands after crawfish and a few beers when I take a leak. That is a painful experience.

I get a kick out of you young wannabe Cajuns trying to tell people how Cajuns do things

You mean the University of Louisiana at Hammond? That’s the co flagship

It’s sad how you lsjw fans won’t admit that your school is the second banana in the state

LOL, the university of Louisiana in Hammond does not exist. Maybe you should go visit the UL system page, you seem to have problem with the names.

Why would we admit to something that is untrue?

I get why restaurants do it because they have to turn around orders fast.

Part of it is that and part is it is easy to boil for the mild customer and dust according to medium or hot orders, although the latter is still about a quick turnaround.

But this is nothing like that.

Unless the are using a caterer who does this by default as well.

While I have no real issues with the dusting, I do prefer the more traditional method. And for people who say "real Cajuns" don't do that, that's just nonsense. I have seen my 85-year-old father-in-law do it, though it is not what he usually does, and the man has English as a second language.

This is pretty petty. I am not a fan of dusting crawfish because it serves no real benefit. But... dude, they are serving crawfish to students. I never got that at LSU.

Bruh. If the seasoning comes off your hands with a hand wash and a little lemon you ain't putting near enough seasoning on them crawfish cuz.

Had 2 kids. Wore contacts for 3 decades. Never wore gloves.

Popped the head off a shrimp one day and shrimp juice went straight into my right eye with contact in. Did NOT start wearing safety glasses for shrimp boils either despite the immense pain from said event.

Dusting is not wrong if and only if you hit it with some vinegar and lemon juice. Dissolves the seasoning and there is none on your hands.
