Yet another failed government contracting endeavor. This comes after just a week ago Axiom claimed they'd be ready to test next year. There were originally two suit contracts and one company dropped out...no competition, no incentive to build the suit faster.

Space suit design is notoriously challenging

Contract SpaceX... Issacson already went into space with their suit. Albeit he didn't walk around, but seems like they'd have a good proto ready to develop on.

Thats why Playtex, yes that playtex, the panty and girdle company, had to step up and make the Apollo suits. They knew how to make it fit to the body.

The suit was tethered to spacecraft for life support. NASA needs an autonomous suit.

That gives them time to come up with another excuse.

This is the kind of shite that fuels the conspiracy theories. They can't design a suit by next year, so lets wait another 5 years.... Sure Jan.

Temu could knock off one of these designs. Wouldn't even need boosters. Comes with its own propulsion system.

I'd trust a SpaceX designed autonomous suit a million times before anyone else's.

SpaceX thanks you for the endorsement. I'm sure if it thought it could engineer a capable suit, it would have made that case to NASA.

And the people who are saying we should refurbish the Apollo suits, I'd love to know how we'd get outdated tech to interface with Artemis systems and the Human Landing System.

We need to remember that these aren't outfits. They are essentially personal spacecrafts.
