It's all about executive bonuses

Based off a shitty country comparison site I found, Mexico has about 1/6 of the GDP per capita of the US, so making 1/6 of $18/hr (guessing that's about entry level wages for factory work nowadays) comes out about right with PPP.
Toyota plant near me in MS starts at $22 an hour & tops out at $35 an hour on the production line. Also has great benefits.

This is why part of my future retirement plans include living on the beach in Mexico.

That giant sucking sound you’re hearing….
Ross Perot was right, it’s a damn shame we have a two party system controlled by corporations, unions, and nimwits

Gotta make sure UAW gets their pensions.

I find this shockingly low. Apparently that’s about what other foreign automakers are paying in Mexico as well. Does this surprise you as well?
I find it shocking that all automobiles aren't built in Mexico if that's the case. You get the same quality as you do paying 10-15x that to your average UAW worker.

Not really. It's been widely known for decades that Mexican wages are a tenth of American wages.

I have one of the trucks they made and can completely believe that it was made by someone pulling $3/hr.

I’m an ardent capitalist and I see what capitalism has resulted in around the world.
Executive bonuses and salaries are out of touch with reality. I don’t want government involved in limiting this, so I have no answer on how to fix it, other than they are paid entirely too much

That's about 55 pesos.
I asked ChatGPT what can 55 pesos buy in Mexico. It said it depends on the region, etc, etc but in general that can get you a candy bar and a soda.

I had to go to a machine shop in Monterey Mexico a few years ago. The shop was owned by the same parent company that I was employed by. It was an eye opening experience and I recommended that we move our part production out of Mexico. No matter how cheap they were there endless f ups cost us quite a bit of money. The machinist on average were making 2 dollars per hour.
