At what point should your city have to pay car repairs due to inability to maintain roads

It is insane how bad Houston roads are. Every damn day my car takes a beating just trying to commute to work. Dodging giant pot holes and driving on uneven roads like I am taking my car rock climbing. It is ridiculous they can't keep up with their basic responsibility of maintaining infrastructure. Obviously this would never happen but I am tired of the unnecessary wear and tear on my vehicle.

The government will get right on it, since they are so competent.

They've tried class action lawsuits before, there were all defeated.

Let's talk about boat trailers.

Every Saturday morning in the summer the roads of louisiana are littered with exploded boat trailers . They get nuked on these shite roads.

I know in Chicago you can submit claims and get money for it. Not sure how many claims get paid and how quickly it happens, but you can try.

quote:

Claims
Was your vehicle damaged by hitting a pothole on a City of Chicago street? Was your property damaged by actions or negligence by the City of Chicago and/or its employees?
If so, you may be able to receive compensation from the City of Chicago for some or all of the costs you incurred.

In most cities/towns, if you find yourself in a situation like above, you would be required to file a case with the small claims court or similar county court system. In Chicago, however, claims such as these are reviewed and settled by the Chicago City Council passing an ordinance to award damages.

I had to replace a tire last year because there was a giant hole in the road. I had no where to go, cars on one side, curb on the other, and person behind me. I couldn't slam on breaks or avoid it. The bump on the tire was so large I didn't feel it was safe to put my family in the car on the interstate so I had to replace it.

The government has lawyers like SFP doing their bidding to cover for their incompetence. That’s why nothing ever gets done and no one is held accountable. All those jobs created for government are also lawyers they hire to cover their tracks and go after political opponents.

My city can't fix water main leaks due to a lack of resources (there was news articles about it) but they are now adding surveillance cameras on top of other surveillance cameras on the same utility poles.
