I'd also like to add a few words of wisdom I picked up when I was five: "You can more money in 15 minutes, than you can make in a lifetime."

No. I'm an optimist. A romantic at heart. I'm not one to let life shite all over me and come out this really bitter person because of it. I can understand others never wanting to marry again..but that just isn't how I'm wired.

I wouldn't be looking to marry so soon after my marriage ended but wouldn't be against it sometime in the future if I met the right person.

My coworker had a pretty nasty divorce when she was younger(she is late 50s now). Sounds like her ex was even abusive. Friends set her up on a date with someone when she turned 50. They are married now and she is very happy. Also helps the guy is very wealthy so she only works a couple days a week and they travel a good bit.

I have several girlfriends my age that have never married and have no desire to. They are quite content being alone.

I bet if you dug a little deeper, you'd find that this isn't the case, or won't be a few years from now.

I wouldn’t say it’s ever too late. If it feels right, why shouldn’t you? Are you asking because you do desire it and want to relieve yourself of worry it’ll never happen all together?

Though I’d say anxiety about age will only inhibit you from giving people that may be right for you a chance. Try not to write people off or on too quickly I mean by being constantly consumed by the idea of relationships and marriage

39 and never married. Shocker, I know.

At what point does one just say that they will enjoy the single life for life and that is it?

I got married at 39 a few months back but I had come to the conclusion that I was content not getting married unless I found someone I really wanted to get married to. I have two dogs and they were perfectly fine with me and dating when I felt so inclined.

She has a 12 year old daughter so I went from a house with me and two male dogs to a house with me, two male dogs, her, her daughter and her female cat. It has been quite the dynamic change and it hasn't been easy even though it has only been since march.

We have discussed kids and at this point I don't want any and she agrees on that. That is the biggy that we had to discuss and we did so before we got married.

Anybody else want a kid but doesn't particularly want to be married?

I am looking at it from the standpoint that a kid would completely uproot my life at this point. I would have loved having a kid 10 years ago but I am now 40 and wouldn't want to start that chapter in my life.

Im the opposite. I'm 27 so the next 5 years of my life are perfect kid having time IMO, but I'm still young enough that I don't want to be tied down with one woman

Same here. I'll never be able to be single, it's just not in my DNA.

I have a friend who is in her mid 40s and has a very stable career but just never got married. So she got a sperm doner and now has the most precious twins.

I think it's more about finding the right person than putting an age limit on it. If you never find someone you can't live without that's cool, but you can't say if I'm not married by 40 I'll never marry.

Raising kids with a spouse is hard enough, I couldn’t imagine doing it alone

I mean I guess if you are really wanting marriage it can be tragic. You've never come across to me as someone wanting that though. Although I guess I don't know you super well.

Also, I'm not saying you need to lower your standards, but I can see you as someone who is super picky. Not necessarily a bad thing, but you have to remember no one is perfect.

My dad died at 37. My mom had 5 to raise ages 5-16. I have no clue how she did that. I know it was a different time.

If there is a Heaven and she's not there, I want no part of it.

On topic. Rouge, don't make the marriage the end game. Force it and it will be elusive. Like the mythical female O. (It IS a Myth right? )

Its 2018, plenty of people raise their kid together just fine without being together. Just because you aren't in a relationship doesn't mean you have to hate each other like you petty childish baby boomer generation people.

That's how women are, they would rather have another income helping out and having someone taking care of them.

I'll never marry again. I do what I want to do when I want to and that won't change.

I don't think that's what he meant at all. Just that being a single parent must be very difficult. Plenty of people coparent and it works out great. You cant argue that having to do it 100% alone though wouldn't be difficult.
