Mistaken identity. I just heard on a Podcast a guy saying his Mexican guide would drive with his dome light on at night so the cartels wouldn't mistake him for an enemy and shoot up his car. 3 Suburbans in a row looks sketchy AF down there. Even if you 3 in a row driving in America you'd wonder who it was and what's going on.

We could also just legalize drugs in the US for those over 18, offer expanded addiction treatment / awareness programs for those who have or develop problems and undercut the true motivation for the violence - large amounts of money.

Gun ownership in Mexico is illegal so only the cartels can have guns.
The Mormons said screw it and armed themselves and set up barriers to getting on thier land with sniper cover over the gates that need to be opened.
The Mexican police wanted to take their guns and the Mormons said come and take them and we will both die.
The Mexican Police backed down and just let them be armed just like they don't mess with the cartel.

I’m thinking there’s more to the story then this. If all the above is true and I’m not doubting it considering they had 3 suburbans, I find it hard to believe that no one in the suburbans was armed. Why drive 3 vehicles like that without protection? I wouldn’t doubt this was more of a gun fight then what is currently being portrayed.
