Prayers for schwatzy's dad - lifting the good Doc up and wishing him a speedy recovery.

It’s always sad when someone gets sick and dies.
It’s even more sad when it could so easily be preventable.
Normally I’d agree that there is a time and place to second guess, etc.
But it’s basically taking people dying for it to get through to some people and even then it doesn’t register.
What’s more important, dancing around the fact that someone died unnecessarily or continuing to raise the issue so that others don’t follow suit?

Would a 3.58 and a 30 on the MCAT get in these days?
Depends. There is systemic racism at play. This is something that most white and Asian applicants know when applying to competitive schools.
If white, you’d have about a 30% chance of getting in with those scores. If black, about an 87% chance of getting in.
Those stats are a couple of years old. They’ve since changed the MCAT grading scale. But AAMC posts this every year. You need to find the latest stats on their website if you are applying and are trying to gauge how competitive you are.

I’m really sorry for what you’re going through. Not a praying man but I truly wish your family well. Can I ask why your father chose to not get the vaccine?

Lol yeah thats it, the vaccine is a personal medical decision for every person, as a younger fit healthy individual that works from home im choosing to remain in the unvaxxed control group. Sorry you dont understand that.
Asi imagine you may have been born in 1960 and probably obese you should get it.

It is sickening that med schools are not accepting the best, rather, conducting social engineering.
Does that get broken down by sex?

With this wave, we have had only two successfully extubated. We avoid intubation if at all possible

It looks like the tide is slowly turning on this board as more and more people start being infected and/or losing loved ones.
Not wanting to take the vaccine yourself doesn’t mean you don’t want relatives to get it. I’ve said old and fat people should get it. I’m glad my parents got it. Everything isn’t a one way street like everyone tries to make everything these days.

On my unit, the list of unvaccinated employees all fall in this category. It's a 50/50 split in that demographic.

Most of the people who refuse the flu vaccine every year at my hospital are African American. I am sure they will not get the covid vaccine either

I would offer that this merely the Lord speaking to your heart throgh MeridianDog. He often intercedes when our hearts have been prepared to receive His goodness in His perfect timing.
Sorry for the rant, but I just am greatly encouraged by your response as someone who was an obstinate unbeliever for years. I encourage you chase after the heart of God because it is an investment with a guaranteed return. Drawing others to the love of Christ is our ultimate purpose in our short time here so that you too can experience the elation of watching the light come on for our newfound brothers and sisters in Christ. This is not an overnight matter, brother. It's a lifelong journey that will trump all nonsense the world throws at us, revealing that your call is merely to be a vessel to do His bidding by shining a light of love that overcomes that dark world around us. It's not the easiest way, but it's the best way.
It's His love that changes hearts: The Blessing

Just from reading your threads on the Poli Board, I would never have guessed this because of some of the things you post concerning the vaccine. I also believe it’s a personal medical decision for every person. I sincerely apologize for my misconception of your stance.
