He and his predecessor have crossed many. What you see now is just a bunch of sharks finally getting a taste of blood in the water. These guys have been running that parish to their own benefit for years, and someone finally stood up to them. I imagine their are a lot of connected folks in the parish not sleeping too well the last few nights. It will be interesting to see what else makes it to the public now.

For those curious, facebook, Daniel Satterlee, councilman.
He's not scared.
I remember him campaigning at my door, as being a standup guy that needed to expose what was going on... Guess he had a few points...

I thought he was running a financial company (spinoff of Olin's Bayou Financial) near the intersection of 44/30. His FB profile indicates he has a Parish job. Surely he's fricked them both up if I had to guess.

quote:And the stupid people of this parish keep putting these clowns back in office. I have been an AP resident since 2000, and I have seen Parish President after Parish President of idiots. But hey, he's a nice guy and can make a mean pot of jambalaya on the weekend. Sure, he's the man for the job!
Dude, it's been happening in AP for years! At least since the 90s. People involved in this probe were in the political game back then
The sad part is that AP has a ton of potential. There's a lot of tax revenue that flows through and if there was one guy with a vision that could come up with an ounce of progress, he would be legendary. And I'm not talking about the Outlet Mall and the Expo Center. Although, those were at least a start.
But again, the problem is that the St. Amantians and the rednecks of AP keep voting these idiots in office, because they know him and his family and want status quo (the same 'ole Ascension Parish they knew growing up).

St. Amant voted overwhelmingly for Cointmont. Matassa's base of support was the West Bank, and the poor blacks in Gonzales, Darrow, Sorrento, and Geismar. He got just enough of the whites vote on the east side who were in the old guard to get elected, but his primary base of support was the old D-ville machine.
So, unless you're asserting that Loar was the answer, St. Amant was on the right side. Loar and Matassa were backed by the same people. Matassa was run to hedge their bets and hope to split the old people in Gonzales and St. Amant so they wouldn't all vote for Cointmont. None of them expected both Matassa and Clint to make the runoff. Matassa was just a willing stooge, so of course he won

The dude is totally useless. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. They both think they are untouchable.

Thought he lost it when he was arrested for charges of domestic abuse battery, possession of marijuana (bond of $737.50), possession of schedule II CDS, and contraband taken to or from penal institutions

Matassa is vulnerable. The East Bank is galvanized against him, and he lacks the charisma or intelligence that Martinez possesses. Martinez was always a charmer in person, and he made the effort to do the most important thing in politics, he shows up to everything. He's everywhere, so damn near everyone gets to know him. He's spent decades showin up to every church fair, benefit, eagle scout courts of honor, graduation ceremonies, bake sales, festivals, ect.
Matassa doesn't have that kind of stroke. He comes across as an old idiot mafia tough in person, and he only started showing up at stuff a year ago. Matassa is toast. I expect a resignation followed by a special election which Cointmont should win handedly.

Didn't he already say he refused to resign?

His attorney is scheduled to speak at 12:30. Live stream on wafb.

Everyone says that at first. They expect these kinda things to just go away. These accusations aren't going anywhere. He doesn't have a wide enough base of support to weather a storm like this. Once his money backers turn on him so they can run Loar (or maybe even Tommy) in the special election so they can be seen as "cleaning up corruption". Matassa will be the scapegoat despite all of them having their hands in the cookie jar.
The real question is whether there's enough opposition to Matassa on the parish council to force him out. I don't think there is, but these shenanigans may change that leaving Matassa no choice but to resign.
One thing is for certain, though, there is no way in hell he will be Parish President in 3 years.

Kingbob, how long have you been in Ascension? You are nailing it. Matassa will take the fall and be left in the cold by his "friends" Cmon Clint Cointment!

Would love to see Olin go down also. Can he face any legal charges?

They have this retard on tape saying "Money talks, all that other stuff walks." If he doesn't do any time it will be an utter travesty.
