All the talk of people fleeing BR proper for the burbs of Ascension Parish and yet the folks there seem to have major flooding issues with just 1" of rainfall.

Makes me wonder, will this curtail people from moving to the area until things get fixed? Could be years before anything significant can be done. Perhaps a decade (when you factor in lack of funds + incompetent Louisiana leadership).

If your choice is getting shot or carjacked in BR or flooding in AP you choose flooding

Serious question. Has Louisiana tried to take a different philosophical approach on maintenance?

I'm not saying that the current network of canals and drainage infrastructure isn't inadequate. But they are definitely clogged with vegetation, debris, and sediment.

If six assholes on the council resign or get recalled in the next few months it won’t take years. Those six dicks’ hate for Cointment reminds me of the left’s obsessive hate for Trump.

CDS is very, very real in AP. He’s not part of the club here in Ascension and actually just wants to do the right thing regardless of political points and that pisses off a lot of people here. People here are accustomed to being catered to due to their connections and Cointment doesn’t play that game.

Cointment has earned my diehard support.

Well it doesn’t seem that complicated. When I purchased land in the AP it was just using Google earth to ensure the land I was purchasing wasn’t in a bowl and was higher than the surrounding land. However the AP council’s old guard likes to rubber stamp building in bowls and/or building up land to flood neighbors.

So yeah, I wouldn’t move here until the citizens flip 3-4 of these fools on the council. If they don’t get removed, don’t come here.

AP needs roads as much as drainage. Say what you want about EBR but this Parish has passed two dedicated road taxes in the last 15-18 years and roads are being built.

Don’t forget garbage and shite. Drive by any ditch, canal, or bayou after a heavy rain and look at the amount of trash floating in the water. Littering should carry a 20 year min sentence In the worst frick-you-in-the-arse prison this state can offer

Well we passed two significant road taxes, but Broome’s road building has been very slow.

It curtailed me 7 years ago. I moved from out of state in exact same scenerio as AP. I was amazed at the amount of free suburban sprawl in AP with no regards to infrastructure or utilities. Its like Oprah was the Parish President and everybody gets an approval on new neighborhood. Small time government blinded by tax dollars. Entrances with no turn lanes, thousands of miles of open ditches, non subgrade power/data/utities, no sidewalks, no set backs, terrible narrow 2 lane road traffic, the list goes on. Ive seen this before (in another state). We could just tell there was no long term planning going on.

We didnt have kids and decided on taking chance in an established area of EBR. We have loved our decision. But we will be coming up on another decision in a few years with middle school aged kids.

PS: Bring back Kip.

Is it racist to say Kip got roads built and Broome talks about building roads?
Asking for a friend.

Ascension is on its way to being BR. Started in Gonzales, now moving to Sorrento, St. Amant, Dutchtown, and Galvez. I give it another 10 years and it’s gonna be just as bad as BR.
