As you get older, do you find you have more or less interest in things in general?

News, hobbies, sports, books, anything. I find I have less and less interest in things as I’ve gotten older.

Mid 30's. Much less. I'm hardly watching sports anymore.

What you need is a rutt buster. Go out and do something that's outside your comfort zone. Join a book club, frick a dude, or try a different flavor of icecream than you usually eat.

Interests fade. Hobbies get boring and stale. But obsessions last forever. Find something you are obsessed with ans you will never get bored of it. For me it's leading the citizens safety force in my master planned community. Working hand in glove with the local sheriffs office has been a dream come true. When you see the lives changed because of your work it means something on a level so deep I cannot see it.

As I get older I find my interest changes. I enjoy reading more. I've been a sports fan since I was born.. Seriously, its just part of me.. I really think it is a genetic thing. My dad's dad was a huge die hard sports fan who use to keep up with everything.
My mom's mom was a huge sports fan. Anytime we went to their house, she had the TV on whatever sporting event there was (and this was before everything was as available as it is today). So that's just something that is 2nd nature to me..
But if you have no interest in anything at all.. You could be dealing with something else. Depression.
Is there anything that makes you happy when you are doing it?

I find myself not giving a shite about most things nowadays.
Things that matter like my close family and friends are all the only things to me.

If I can do it at home, I'm still interested. If I have to leave the house, frick that.

Way less interest in sports, but football in particular. I’m enjoying MLB, PGA, some NBA, and NHL more and more.
An LSU loss in football 12-15 years ago and my week as adversely affected. Nowadays, win or loss and I just don’t get the passion behind it like I used to.

I have as much or more at 43 than I ever have.
Life is short, live it to the max!

Level of interest is the same or greater.
What interests me has changed significantly, though.

Very much so. I always have been. It's gotten much worse with age.
I'm breaking out in hives at the thought of getting on a plane next week. And it's only partly because of corona.

Me too. I wouldn't call it depression but I am definitely not interested in some things as much as I used to be.

Mid 30s
I don't live and die with sports and similar interests like I did in my 20s, but I'm increasingly interested in tackling things I don't know about.
Like I'll just decide one day that it's ridiculous I don't know anything about the Dust Bowl and spend two weeks on it.
