Once you crest abt 40-45, you start to understand time and mortality a lot better. You understand how little of it is left and you lose interest in halfway doing things and having 287 hobbies/interests. Your time becomes much more valuable to you and usually you want to share it with people you are close to doing things you are excel at and derive the most value from. So having a plethora of interests and friends goes by the wayside. You no longer just casually do activities with people you see 6-8 times per year.

At least this has been my experience.

More interest in specific things and less interest in a broad range of things.

I am 44, just got my first hemorrhoid. So I would say that I am more interested in preparation H than I used to be.

Yep.

Partially paralyzed 10 years ago sped things up a bit.

Deteriorating health DOES have the most effect.

I find I fluctuate back and forth between things I like to do. Eventually some of them get old and I put it aside, but often go back to them at a later date.

I do have many interests though between woodworking, gardening, upkeep on my house, maintaining my vehicles, fishing, socializing with friends, playing pool and darts, cooking, riding my motorcycle, etc.

The ones I don't really put aside are cooking and darts and have been doing both for decades now.

I’ll never have as much passion for anything like I did when I was 19/20 years old. Life has been a long series of kicks in the arse since then.

Yes. Pretty much everything interests me less now.. I'm only 32. Video games are one of my big hobbies and I never even feel like doing that anymore aside from Overwatch which I play fairly regularly. When I start playing another game I just get bored so quickly. I have a backlog I'll probably never play in my lifetime.

Sports - I watch way less of now. Everything I watch regarding sports is usually just if I'm at the bar drinking already. Still enjoy that, and socializing with friends and even strangers. I find that to be the thing that never gets old but it can if I'm doing it 2-3 times a week. So I try to limit it to just a Friday or a Saturday night. But I also drink less because I don't want to be a fat arse.

Narrowed what I like to a few things and pursue with a passion.

No longer feel the need to be proficient in everything, or care about everything

Interests fade. Hobbies get boring and stale. But obsessions last forever. Find something you are obsessed with ans you will never get bored of it. For me it's leading the citizens safety force in my master planned community. Working hand in glove with the local sheriffs office has been a dream come true. When you see the lives changed because of your work it means something on a level so deep I cannot see it.

This is awesome.

I know one thing. The older I get the more patience I lose.

My dr appointment today was for 3. Still in the fricking waiting room. If they can’t do blood work today I’m gonna lose my shite. I’ve been fasting. I’m hungry as frick.

Oh hell to the no. Everything is more interesting. You just can't get complacent.

Get some radical curiosity going, baw. Life just gets better and better.

I’m not as into movies as much as I used to be.

I have gained interest in hobbies though. Especially grilling. I’m also buying a lawnmower tomorrow.

I’m turning into my fricking dad.

I don't know what to search to get the .gif of the guy walking by, looking at the screen and backing up - but that.

I don't think most people care less about everything as they get older, but they do care less about many things that they don't deem as important anymore. When I was a kid I loved to play and watch all sports, but as the years have gone by, my interest seemed to drop off slowly, now all I watch is football, mostly college.
