Twice.
Bought the first one right before I got married, bought the second one about 5-6 years later when our situation changed and we needed more room.
Glad I did the latter when I did because, otherwise, I’d have been stuck where I was due to the changes in the market / interest rates.
Not planning on moving again before the youngest leaves for college, barring potentially inheriting property which is already paid off.

Homes we purchased
Cleveland, MS
McHenry, IL
Garland, TX
Mt Home, AR
Richland Hills, TX
Clinton, MS
Byram, MS
Marion, AL
Meridan, MS
Clinton. MS
Last move to Clinton was to take care of parents after retirement. Parents are gone now. House is paid for. Often think of moving back to Meridian or Mt. Home but it would probably be foolish to do that. We still think about it a lot.

12, currently own 2. We’ve moved around by choice. Making my way back to south Louisiana for the expected final move. We’ll see.

You mean mortgages rather than owned? Houses are a pretty big purchase. I have lived in six houses I've had a mortgage on. I paid off the sixth.

Four homes one at a time + a “vacation” home

I’ve only rented. frick replacing an AC system or fixing a toilet. Just call that landlord and live the easy life.
I couldn’t imagine renting and building equity for someone else over 40 to 50 years.
$2000 a month for 50 years is 1.2 million

Then if you have to move into assisted living you have nothing from renting. If you bought and even had repairs you could sell the house and use the equity to pay for the assisted living.

I couldn't imagine not being able to do what the hell I want with my place either. Like I think I'm going to concrete this section of the yard in and change up the floors in my bedroom.

Yup I’ve got a lot of stuff I want to do to my new house to hopefully increase the value and enjoy it more.

Refinanced nearly 3 years ago due to a divorce. 2.5 % on a 15-year loan.

Nice! How did you pull that off?
It’s where rates were at the time I needed to refinance.

Property taxes are a scam and should be abolished.

I’ve had a condo, a trailer, and a house.

Some of us just don't give a crap about concreting a section of the yard and changing the floors up in my bedroom.
Different strokes for different folks. I owned a house for 8 years and hated it.
