She's going to lose. Not saying she should, but they're not going to disrupt the pipelines around Shintech when there's undeveloped land sitting nearby. The issue for me is nobody's made completely 'whole' by the government's offer of FMV, even if it's a bit higher.

What was the proposed project and what do you do on the land now?

Extend a highway and putting in a suburb. We hunt and fish it, have 20 acres of native plants we keep up with, 50 acres of oak forests that is now almost 80 years old, 4 acre pond, and rest is pine trees. Iirc their plan was to put in 180 houses.

Good news for her, it will take 50 years for it to be built at the rate in which road work gets done in Louisiana

She should just ask that they start with the other side first, by the time they get done with the studies and complete the east side she will be dead.

Folks who don’t own land or have never owned land, who have never worked land to improve it for wildlife, recreated on it with past generations of family, have a difficult time understanding the desire/need to hold on to it.

I once put our place up for sale, based on the fact that my children no longer lived in Louisiana and have no intentions of coming back. I got a very generous offer and at the last moment backed out of selling. All the time I’d spent there with my father, grandfather and friends kept going through my head. All the sweat and hard work put into building a pond, roads and food plots…it just felt like I was throwing it all away.

I understand her plight, but also understand that if the state chooses that location, there will be little she can do to prevent it from happening. My suggestion would be to start looking for another tract she could purchase.

Our biggest obstacle right now is my brother wants to put bee hives out there but he still works, I’m retired. Neither of us know how to do it but I’d rather have native bees and not add honey bees which aren’t native. He’s too busy to tend to honey bees and I simply don’t wanna do it

Sounds like people need to fork money out and buy the land from her, then allow the bridge to be built. Or get over it and accept it’s her land

Do you really think she’s not going to get paid. All this woman is doing is making a stink to try to get more of my taxpayer dollars. She’s a piece of shite. frick her

You should have already bought the land from her and this wouldn’t be a problem for you.

I guess that means I am also, I’m good with it.

[quote]I can remember the fighting in Lafayette over the Camellia bridge. Eventually eminent domain won out, and it sure made getting around Lafayette alot better, but folks lost homes than they have been in for decades with no desire to leave.[/quote

Are they planning on taking out her home?

Just one of the reasons the bridge has never been built. This and the folks of West Baton Rouge who killed it in 2006 with a petition because of the cinclare sugar mill building. and the Ascension Parish 2008 petition because of a swamp.

It is hard enough for the Corps and USCG to agree and accept a location, they can never get by the environmental.

So when people complain about how long it has taken, this is why.

Well sure. There has to be a reason to not build the bridge.

If it weren’t cypress trees it would be slugs that live on the banks of the river, or increased air pollution, or any of a million and six bullshite reasons.

The bridge won’t be built.

She can fight it all she wants & will still end up losing the land and money

If the EPA signs off on it, then it’s good to go.

Oh for frick sake.

I’m sure if someone digs enough, there is gonna be some bullshite that the bridge will affect

Poor people, those we don’t speak of, insects, birds, plants, trees, hummingbirds, rocks, or whatever.

At some point, the answer is gonna be shut the frick up, we are gonna build this bridge whether you like this or not.

Stop mutha fricking stalling

Good. Screw a subdivision being built on land that's not really for sale.

Personally I as m glad she is bringing this to our attention. We don’tneed to be bulldozing down old growth forests if we can help it.

The question is whether or not there is an alternative. And if not is there anything we can do to mitigate the damage.

But the bridge is extremely important and it has to be built somewhere.

We’ll find a live Bigfoot before Louisiana ever gets another Mississippi River bridge or a loop.

The complete Epstein list will be released and all will be convicted and sent to prison before Louisiana gets that bridge or loop.
