Yeah the pastor is an idiot. But everyone in that congregation made the choice to go there. Why is no one upset with them too?

My state is required to do it quicker, which is why I was wondering. I appreciate the reply.

EBR sheriff's deputies should just go ahead and arrest the pastor, but wait until Friday. An arrest on Friday would allow him to be legally held over the weekend, at EBR detention center, and then have him appear before a judge on Monday for bail-setting hearing.
for a misdemeanor?

Unless all those people will remain quarantined in the church, they carelessly increase the risk to not just people they may pass it on to but all the rest of us praying cases start to go down so we can get back to work.
You know, the precise logic behind the orders against large gatherings.
I will not argue with anyone who truly feels it is a first amendment right to congregate even if at the clear and obvious risk to other people.
However, I certainly hope those people believe that NO protesters ever congregating should be dispersed merely for disrupting the lives and possible safety of other people.

Stay home and don't let them in your home and you will be safe
So you aren't going to run into any of those 1800+ members at the grocery store, gas station, convenience stores, etc while they need supplies for their home.
Or better yet, are you saying these members will not come into contact with anyone with the virus that may or may not yet be showing symptoms, then in turn infect everyone at the next church service?
If this pastor can continue to allow huge gatherings, then by all means lets go ahead and have the LSU spring football game folks. What's it gonna hurt? Let's go big or go home with infecting this entire state then.
This is being sarcastic to those of you dumbarses that can't tell the difference.

Right! then they need to arrest everyone in attendance also!
I do believe they drove to the church. the pastor did not force is way into their homes.

WTF is wrong with you? You chicken shite. You would have fit in well in Nazi Germany.
I don't like the government having any kill switch on my rights and my freedom. Virus be damned!
This is still America the last time I checked. We have the freedom of religion and the right to assembly. We also have due process of law but people like you want to say "frick all of that. Let's give the government power to do anything without any accountability and without any due process." Well, screw you.

Does it extend to give one the right to exercise that speech in a manner which will spread disease?
1) Speech doesn't spread disease, unless you consider social media a disease, which i do.
2) So i guess we can arrest people that go to the grocery store? Is the pastor spreading disease? No. Unless he has the disease and is intentionally doing so. So the same can be said for anyone, anywhere, doing anything in public. Just because daddy government proclaims x business essential and y business nonessential doesn't mean the spread of the disease halts.
They put warnings not to eat tide pods for a reason. You are that reason.

What if they didn't go to church, yet still went to a grocery store that sees 1800+ people per day? Is it just the type of gathering that you want deemed illegal, and not really the danger of any gatherings in general? What about people jogging around town, specifically the LSU lakes. Are you fine with that? I'm sure the virus won't spread when people are exhaling rapidly while others are following 6' behind them...

Again, apply this to grocery stores and take out as well.

I get that you are caught up in the panic, and are "doing your part" to save the world. But, there is supreme hypocrisy for those that are attacking a church service, but are fine with allowing grocery stores to operate. Spread of virus is spread of virus, and a grocery store is probably the worst place you want to be. Yet, ALL OF THEM are open. Be consistent in your fear mongering.

This whole thing is so stupid. I see why the state (referencing the authority of government in general, the state, not necessarily Louisiana) has an interest in trying to limit exposure. Four hundred idiots meeting up and 150 get corona , 15 get ventilator sick.. well they just overloaded one hospital by themselves. At some point it’s not constitutional though.
I also don’t understand why the pastor is doing this. God can forgive you for any number of things from violence to adultery to degeneracy but God will be mad if you don’t have a large service for a month or two ? The fella is supposedly pretty understanding , maybe Tony should run this one by Him.

You sir are truly a dumbarse. People must be able to buy food, water, toiletries, gas for cars, and/or other necessities.
The last time I checked GOD was omnipresent. Meaning he doesn't just show up to those that gather in a church building. It's why some people have prayer rooms and closets in their homes. If one is truly thinking I can only pray and seek God while in a church building, then they aren't serving the real, one, TRUE God.
