I don't know the legal answer to this -
Can you use deadly force to stop a felony/act posing grave harm to another (ie, rape here) when it is statutory rape if the groomed girl was doing along with it willingly (or as willing as is possible for a minor who can't consent)?
Surely that's been raised as a defense before

You answered your own question - they can't consent. Rape is rape. If this guy had lived he would have stood trial.

The fact that a scuffle is part of the accepted story is gonna be his way out of this. There are 3 people who know exactly what happened and the two who can still speak are gonna have a compelling story to dismiss those charges

Not that it changes anything about what sounds like a justified shooting, this makes it sound like he knew the pedo…or at least knew what car to look for.
