Are you supposed to tip the hotel housekeepers?

If I have a few one's and loose change, I usually leave it on the night stand.

The first I'd ever heard of this practice was on the OT. Of course I usually put the DND sign on my door immediately anyway and don't remove it until I leave.

I always do. Usually $5 per day. I leave it in an envelope on the table with "Housekeeping" marked on it when I leave for the day. If I am staying multiple days, I will usually tip for the entire stay on the first day.

Only those named Lupe', she does a great job of tucking the sheets if you ask.

Yeah I've never heard of tipping these folks. I like the hotels that give you points for refusing housekeeping (eco-friendly?). Came across that in California.. go figure.

All I get them to ever do is get me fresh towels, new bottles waters, and body lotion.

They never make my bed or touch my luggage.
