Did they really expect straight people to watch this?

Hollywood has "woke" content. Yall think the Hangover would ever be made in today's world? I like funny, I don't care if its gay people or not, but this had the same feel as that dumbass bridesmaid movie.
This is the insightful take for me.
Sexuality stuff notwithstanding, I could tell this movie would not be received well. Why? Because simply put, they are trying too hard. It's not just happening in comedy; it's happening in all genres.
No longer are film writers and directors putting out movies that are good for their own sake. They are putting out movies that we're "supposed to like." The arrogance is utterly staggering. The creators aren't supposed to dictate what people like; the audience gets to decide that for themselves.
You could see from a mile away (hell, they literally said it themselves) that this wasn't going to be a funny movie that just so happens to feature a gay couple. It was A GAY MOVIE and we're supposed to like it and think it's funny because it's GAY and because YOU'RE NOT A HOMOPHOBE, ARE YOU?!
Imagine if Star Wars: A New Hope was about to hit theatres, and George Lucas, Mark Hamill, and the studio paraded around saying "This is such an awesome SCI-FI FANTASY and if you're not one of those losers who is too cool to watch SCI-FI FANTASIES than you should come see this movie. If you don't like SCI-FI FANTASIES then you just need to stay home, because we don't want you there."
It's like...no, they just created a great movie based around a great story that just happened to take place in a Sci-fi fantasy universe. The fans responded.

So they make a film that only gay men will really be able to relate to and wonder why it's not a raging success? Maybe it's funny and maybe I'll watch it eventually. But expecting this movie to be a raging success is a bit naive.

Are you straight? Then it’s your fault that Bros was a spectacular box office failure
I expect no less than the punishment doled out to our esteemed politicians.

How stupid. I'm straight and not homophobic. But I'm also not the least bit interested in that movie. But, yeah, I'm sure it's all homophobia. People love to be victims.
I don’t go see straight rom coms. Top Gun or gtfo

OWLFAN has never watched a movie or TV show OWLFAN is neither gay or straight,
he is whatever your imagination needs him to be to find validation for your failures in life

So bringing something to market that people either don’t want or are apathetic about is the markets fault…….damn who would have thunk it?

I don’t think I need to see a rom com that is specifically about being gay, or Asian, or black, or trans.
Love is love. Not watching any rom coms.
Also the bird cage pwns this, was about gays, and made a duck ton of money

Y’all do realize this is a coordinated attempt by billy and the studio to drum up press for the movie.
And I still won't go see it.
