Tree fell on my car Friday night, 2003 with 170k miles. No note
Girlfriend’s car has a fatal engine knock at the AC is out, 2014 with 190k miles. No note
So I need to soon buy two vehicles in the midst of all this bullshite.

I am sadly eating more chicken and pork instead of beef because of the prices.

I ain't paying that much for cube steak.
I feel like that too with some stuff. Not necessarily cube steak, but sometimes I see the price on other items and I'm simply not doing it. It's not that always that I can't afford it, it's the principle of it.

Do not buy a car right now.
New or used.
Wait 6 months, then pull the trigger. Prices will be sinking then.
But if you are thinking about just selling a car, definitely do it NOW.

I do my best to verify that they aren’t a liberal.
Try being a single man in this cesspool of a political environment. I'd say I'm a decent looking guy, but limited in the wallet so that doesn't help me lot. But regardless, it's frustrating as hell to finally find a woman that checks the boxes of looks and not crazy (on the surface) but discover early on that she's a freaking liberal. I can't do it. It's a deal breaker even though I don't consider myself driven by politics, I'm not listening to some dumb 'woke' bitch talk about that nonsense all the time.

On a much grander scale, I have a friend who stopped his plans for building a new house due to marked increases in home building.
Lumber prices have tanked recently.

I’m torn about buying a vehicle. I don’t think dealers will be dropping prices even when inventories increase because they’ll claim pent up demand.

Bought a vehicle in april. It’s increased in value by about 15-20%. Pretty happy about that lol

Well that is kind of what is happening.
But I do think within a year things will start to even out some with the vehicle market and things will get better.

Got a new boat in December, Bimini was damaged in shipping. Kept getting the runaround for the replacement, Covid this, that. Finally got it in last month. All of the parts had ship dates on them. Most were dated well before we’d ever heard of Covid.

Not really but I haven't really bought anything of note in a while and haven't noticed a change at the grocery store yet. Gas has really been the only thing I've noticed.

Same. I'm getting to the trade-in point on mine, and we have a teen driver. Looking locally and on-line quite a bit. The timing isn't great, but it's not like it's Castro's Cuba over here. Some dealerships are pretty thin, but others are very well stocked. IDK
If I had some guarantee it would be better in six months, I'd wait, but I don't want it to be worse.
ETA, the price of groceries has definitely gone up, and the dining out experience is very hit or miss. Starting to pay more attention to what I'm buying and explaining to our kids that Door Dash isn't the most economical way to get food. They're obsessed.

Putting off a car purchase.
Held off on steaks and got chicken instead.

Yes. Bought about 100 Oz of silver and 4 Oz of gold since Feb.
Metals will never be a substantial portion of my portfolio, but I thought it would be nice to have something I can barter with beside an ammo stockpile or dollars.

Value meal at McDonald’s used to be 5 bucks.
Now it’s 9.50

What's minimum wage there?
Signs here at McD says starting pay $10/hr. I mostly only go for breakfast so don't know how much combo meals go for.
