Are you altering purchases due to inflation?

I found myself buying the cheaper ground beef for hamburgers yesterday.

On a much grander scale, I have a friend who stopped his plans for building a new house due to marked increases in home building.

How about you?

Buying a cheaper vehicle? Putting off buying electronics? Not buying steak?
Or frankly not caring and still getting whatever?

We have to hold up on vehicle purchases.

The worst thing for me is the price of beef. I only eat beef, chicken and salmon, nothing else.

Yes

Planning on another car and a new condo, but putting both off for at least a year.

No. Inflation is eternal. Life is not.

A condo and car are not driven by inflation...

Locally, they are absolutely being driven by inflation. Its a micro economy due to the isolation.

Material prices put the condo project on hold.

My crypto portfolio has gone from basically 0% to like 5% of my net worth and I’ve upped my 401(k) contribution big time

Other than that, nah just living life as usual. My mortgage will act as a hedge against dollar devaluation and I already have all the material possessions I really want

I'm fortunate that I'm not in the position to be buying a home right now so this insane housing market isn't really affecting me. BUT, I hope to be looking in about 2 years. I hope that it's settled by then. With a home, I'll feel a little better about the inflation we're seeing.

It's real, it's definitely real. EVERYTHING is going up in price except my paycheck. I feel it every time I go to the grocery store it seems that several things cost more. I'm a simple man that usually buys the same things, give or take a few items. Slowly ticking up, damn near every month.

Prices are unbelievable. Almost all new construction is in a hiatus. Groceries are ridiculous.

Was planning a pool and outdoor kitchen addition but contractors are a year out and materials are sky high., so I’ve put it off for a bit.

New construction (eg, lumber prices) will cost you in nominal housing price and finance costs to the tune of 10's of thousands. That hurts just typing it much less if buying new construction home right now.

Give me the half side of beef all day long before new construction home right now!

That's what the issue is here. Material prices are so high, no one is building. Forces existing real estate prices into the stratosphere.

Nope. If I were making any major purchases I probably would have had second thoughts, but I'm for damn sure not passing up purchasing good ground beef, steaks, etc because it's a little more expensive.

We don't go out to eat as often. Out here, two entrees plus tax and tip is pushing $40 no matter where you go. And we like to have a couple of drinks, so that pushes it up to $60. So we do stay home and cook more now.

Restaurant prices have gone up at least 20%. Every time we go out to eat I’m shocked by some of the prices

I've been wanting some cube steak and gravy over rice for a while, but every time I've been to the store over the past few months cube steak has been almost $9 a pound. I ain't paying that much for cube steak.
