9-5. Hate my job. Clinical Research Coordinator at a hospital. Horrible pay. Ten years out of Vandy undergrad and I've basically wasted that degree with the decisions I've made. Was taking pre-med classes at night while working at the hospital because I thought I wanted to go to med school. My job is a dead end.
No idea what to do. Wouldn't mind going back to school, but not sure what for.

No real set schedule. Come in at 6, leave at 4-5, sometimes earlier. I guess we're suppose to be 8-5. The rock field. I buy into the businesses mission because it's all about the oil and gas money, so 9/10. Career.

I've actually been thinking about going back to school for a bs/ms in geology (no experience in geology whatsoever, but I've been researching it). I'm almost 32 so it seems like a very daunting move.

Worked inpatient healthcare for some 35 years...long hours but is what happens when one's employer is a 24/7 operation. Retired couple of years ago. Stay busy as a pastor, chaplain and direct an outpatient program for the elderly but tend to set my own hours. Was an adjustment, from being very structured to having some modicum of flexibility, and the maintenance seems much less or maybe I really enjoy what I do

Are you a 9-5'r or do you love your job?
Usually 7:00 to 5:00 or so, sometimes 6. Always in before 7:30.
Do I love my job, difficult question. I'm good at what I do, I can make a lot of money, and I like the path I'm on, but my position isn't what I love.

Probably a 10 here.

Is this your career job or part-time for fun?
None of the above. It's a stop along the way. Maybe long term. Maybe.
But I love the company. And I love the opportunity, where I work, and where I've been able to move to. I'm a lucky SOB I think.

8-5, M-F.
Compliance Officer
First civilian job after being in the military
On a scale, I'd say 6/10.

There are times during school when you wonder why you're doing it, but get past those and it's okay. I think that's for every curriculum though.
Jobs are tough in this current moment, but in a few years they'll be solid. This oil drop is pushing many baby boomers to retirement. Which is a great thing for all. Many opportunities all over the country. Not just O&G. I'd love to go to Hawaii and be a volcanologist.

I'm getting to the point where I hate the travel, but the working conditions/environment are great. While I am a company man and don't spend freely without benefit, I have never had an expense report questioned. They don't bat an eye at a last minute $1000.00 domestic flights or dinner tabs. When not in the field work from home and not micromanaged. Simply run your territory like a business, and generate targeted margins.

I'm on a work computer so, YES I love my job very very much. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity and I look forward to many more years of success together.

Do the other opportunities outside of O&G pay relatively well? It doesn't seem like it from what I've read. I'd love to pick your brain, but don't want to hijack this dude's thread.

I'd say equal parts a factor with the commute. I'm not of the live to work mindset. I work to provide for my family. I'll do whatever is necessary to provide a good life for us. That includes having plenty time away from work and consistent and reasonable hours. Luckily my field provides such opportunities.

Man, you and I are completely different.
I spend without even thinking twice about it. What benefit is it to you if you save the company money?

No set schedule, traveling sales. Hate it, only here for the money

I see what you did here.....
Schedule: I have to be aware during working days of what is going on, I have to actually be somewhere at an appointed time several times a month.
I'm at a 9.5/10 only because I can't exactly say there's not a better job somewhere.
