you still end up paying almost 50k for a truck that has carpet interior and 13 MPG.

Instead, I paid that much for a GMC that gets 19.5, has all the tech I could use, and rides like a Cadillac. My last one got 200k with no trouble, and this one should too.

I’ve had every brand of truck. Literally every single brand. Out of all of them the gm gave me the most issues. Never have I had so many stupid little problems. The dash cracked into many pieces (routinely made sure it has uv protection), the engine was great, it developed squeaking noises while driving that eventually made it so that I had to wear headphones. Also the paint and clear coat was crap as compared to Toyota/ford/ram.

The tech seems to be lacking.

What am I missing here?

less shite to break.

i'm on my 3rd tundra. and when it's time i will buy a 4th.

ETA: the nissan commercial where they say " the best tech you earn is in your driveway" is pretty accurate since they break a lot.

I didn't know any male would drive a vehicle for 20 years without ever replacing serpentine belts as part of maintenance.

My Tahoe is about to roll over 100,000 miles and is still better equipped than a brand new Tundra.

Tundra MPG has improved significantly, my 2016 with 4.7 L does 17-18 mpg city driving 20 plus on the highway, have seen 23mpg on some trips. Friend with 2016 tundra with the big engine gets about 1 mpg less than I do.

Bullfrickingshit someone with a 5.7 Tundra gets a legit 22mpg ever. HE may have changed the tire size and gearing and that fricked with his odometer readings.

Most reliable truck out there besides Tacoma.

Just gave my 2003 Tacoma an interior face-lift and handed the keys of my 16 year old truck to my 16 year old kid.

For all the people bitching about the lack of technology in Toyota trucks. The new generation Apple Car Play, Android Auto, Touchscreen receivers fit perfectly in the Toyota double din dash. I had the Pioneer AVH-1550NEX with back up camera installed in my 2003 Tacoma. Best Buy has/had a deal going for free instillation for all Apple Car Play receivers.

And mine had none of those problems through 200k.

Not even a squeak. Not a single crack in dash and it was never parked inside.

That was my 07 Avalanche.

I always liked that old body style. A little smaller than most full-size trucks, but very reliable.

Because I’ve had three vehicles in my life; all 10+ year old GM vehicles when I got rid of them with almost 200,000 miles on them.

Yea I have an 08 Silverado with 200,000 plus on it and only work that’s been done other than general maintenance is some brake work, and replacing battery. General maintenance I mean just oil changes, windshield wipers.

and my 2008 Escalade EXT had almost all of them.

door locks x 6
other knick knack interior bits peeling and failing
squeaks= bad struts/mounts
wheel bearing
dash was Ok
6.2 was awesome, better MPG than 5.4 Fords while also being smoother and waaay more powerful.
Excellent ride, great seats, but GM's parts buyer rides the short bus to school.

truck only had like 60K on it when I traded it.

Are Tundras still among the best reliable trucks?

So i was in the market for a truck 2 years ago. I called a recommended Transmission shop in Lafayette, La. Considered one of the best in the area. My Maxima's transmission had took a dump and was asking about it. I asked her if there was anyone i could talk to about it or if she could help me. She was the Marissa Tomei of My cousin vinnie, cajun version. She explained to me that with my car's transmission, they break, you throw them away. Encased and you would need a sledgehammer to break it apart and still wouldnt be able to fix it. 4k for new transmission and no guarantee it wouldnt do the same thing again.

I asked her which trucks have the best engines and then which have the best transmissions etc. She proceeded to rattle off which brand trucks by the years have good engines but bad transmissions and then good transmissions and bad engines. I then asked her, of all the trucks you get in your shop, "Which trucks do you rarely get in your shop."

She told me, Toyota trucks. We rarely get them in our transmission shop and when we do, its a minor fix that is cheap to fix. I have had my toyota for 2 years with no issues. Great truck and the super roomy in the back. You cant go wrong with a tundra.

Don’t know if covered above, but Tundra is having a style change for 2021. At least that’s what they said when we got our 2020 model a couple weeks ago. Have a 2010 Tundra, and it’s very very similar in terms of exterior. And, no, it’s not for sale.
