Models on WeatherUnderground show it shooting the gap into the Gulf later this week - heading NW.

none of the major global models show any significant development right now. NHC puts it at 10% in the next 5 days. Not a huge concern at the moment.

Actually, I thought most models have it named in the next 48-72 hours. It is definitely something to keep an "eye" on. We just wont know more until Friday and building in the gulf wouldnt happen until Sun/Mon

NHC has it as a 0% chance of cyclone formation in the next 48 hrs. 10% over the next 5 days.

He's trolling, unless he's confusing it with 93L which shouldn't really be a concern yet either.

Is this going to affect my trip to Punta Cana at the end of this month?

it's had stronger winds than 30 kts in the past couple days. that doesn't make it any more of a threat to develop into a tropical cyclone.

it's about to hit a really unfavorable shear environment that should last until it goes ashore in central america. it's not developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 72 hours.
