Are most companies off on Good Friday?

Honest question. I've never worked for a company that didn't work on this day, but one of my friends I talked to on the phone yesterday said he wasn't working today and also said a large majority of companies don't work on Good Friday. Needless to say that surprised me but maybe he's right.
Any of you baws working today like I am?

Yep. And I'll be working tomorrow and Easter Sunday too.

I have always had Good Friday as a paid holiday

I find it to be more of a tradition in high catholic areas, when I worked in north Mississippi, they laughed when I asked if we got off for Good Friday, same as when I worked for a national corporation

Have never been off on Good Friday with any company. Lots of people take it off though

I think this is primarily a Louisiana thing.
Both companies I worked for (after graduating) gave off for Good Friday. None of the companies I’ve worked for since moving have done this.

I believe I had Good Friday off when I worked for LSU, don't remember specifically though.
My wife has today and Monday off (she works at a clinic here in Lafayette).

My company usually doesn’t but decided to work thru it this year given the COVID thing

It's a holiday for me, but I'm having to half work because my coworker won't leave me alone and we have a deadline today that they of course waited until an hour before closing yesterday to completely switch up.
I wouldn't mind so much but I'm on a 10 hour road trip today and working from my phone isn't ideal.

Unfortunately, most companies are moving away from the religious holidays based on political correctness

I'm working, but when I worked at LSU and Loyola we didn't work on Good Friday.

We always close on Good Friday.

Stupid government don't recognize religious holidays and since we're a contractor we don't get it off.
