Happens at my kids elementary school all the time. I have been to 0 of these random lunch dates. I will pick them up early a few times a year and pull them out of school and go do something fun though.
Sounds like a lot of these parents have too much free time on their hands and camp out at the school frequently to do something.

My little girl asks me to and I have the flexibility so I go. She loves it.

My wife does it with my son in elementary school about once/month. They seem to enjoy it and she usually brings him Chic-fil-A.
I don't think you should feel bad for not doing it though, especially considering your circumstances.

When I was in.. I think middle school.. My dad was starting to get sicker so we were not going to church every Sunday. He was sick and continued to work until he absolutely couldn't work anymore, but on the weekends he mostly wanted to rest and it just wasn't a priority at that certain time, for us to go to church every Sunday..
The nun called my mom up and told her that she noticed we were not attending church as much as we should. And that if they didn't plan on attending more then they would not allow me to continue to go to confirmation class. My mom was pissed and gave the nun an ear full.. I would have rathered not been allowed to attend confirmation classes anymore because... Well, did anyone like going to confirmation class?

What kind of fricktard PTA president calls someone out like that at a pta meeting?
Edit: I'm referring to the question you were asked, op, not your response.
Furthermore I'm sure people are aware of your situation which only makes it worse.

This generation of kids will be moving out at the age of 40 at this rate.

My mom would do that sometimes when I was in lower school. I liked it because she would bring me fast food or something instead of school lunch.

Kids that's parents are always around grow up to be unsuccessful welfare people. My parents were cold and distant and always working when I was growing up and I learned from example. I'm now a productive workaholic member of society

tell those pta parents to get a fricking "real" job.
If you have a job where you are in a high enough position to take a few hours off in the middle of the day (likely a management position) I'd say it's real enough

If your Judd are young, this is really not a big deal like you're making it out to be.
If they're 12 years old, Yea you may have a point.

God forbid someone likes to be involved in their kids schooling... I mean wtf are those dumb arse parents thinking? Don't they know school Is supposed to be a break from your child and just a place for them to watch your kid?!!

I eat lunch at my daughter's school everyday. I just believe it makes a difference. Has it been tough to keep a steady job? Yes. But your kid will only be young once. Priorities.

was asked why I don't do lunch dates with my kids yesterday at the PTA meeting. I'm a recent widowed father of 4 & my tired knee jerk reaction was "because I don't want to give other kids a reason to beat my kids up.....?"
good for you.

I can't wait to go to PTA. I imagine they're full of nothing but worthless both breathing helicopter SJWs with their heads planted firmly up their own assess.
