Are mail order brides a real thing

And do you know anyone that’s bought one? If so how did it turn out? To me I can’t imagine what it would be like with someone that didn’t really want to be with you but maybe y’all grow on each other? What keeps them from running away once they get here?

When I was in my early 20s I worked with a guy that had a mail order bride from Russia. This was late 90s.
MASSIVE mistake on his part. His wife is beautiful. But ruined him financially. She brought her mom with her when she married him. Ruined his credit by running up a bunch of credit card debt buying stuff for her and her mother.
He was in a situation where he was basically stuck with her. Complained about it all the time at work.

It’s different with the internet. Not just mailing off for someone. You meet on foreign dating sites, and she has to pretend to like you enough to get you to visit her in her third world country. Then you come home & apply for a K-1 visa.

You’re on the right track, DTG. They would definitely run away from you, like any other sane female. Stay away from mail order brides.

Someone I used to work with rented an apartment from a guy who got one from one of those Asian countries. At the time it seemed like it worked out well for him, not sure how it's gone since then.

My brother in law ( he’s Vietnamese) went to China specifically to find a bride. They dated platonically long distance because he’s a straight arrow nerdy guy. After a couple of years he brought her over and married her. She is a jewel, not that beautiful or anything, but just a pure giving heart. She literally gave her car to my daughter as a gift . She makes these elaborate 7 course feasts every time we visit. And she’s a great wife to him. So it definitely works.

They are real, met one 2 weeks ago. Ukrainian blonde in late 20’s , gorgeous. Married to 74 y/o businessman. Lucky bastard, looks like Danny Davito.
