Engineering is applied science.
Outside of academia they are primarily separate disciplines.
But, we sure learn a lot of science / physics to become an engineer.

Engineering is the practice of science where there’s an actual consequence of being wrong, but you don’t have the freedom of working to expand human knowledge.
Being a scientist offers the freedom to expand human knowledge, but since there’s no consequence to being wrong a whole bunch of hokey shiite ends up coming out too.
Only a scientist would try to convince you that it’s a totally legit win if a biological male track athlete starts taking some hormone pills and, for some unforeseen reason, starts breaking records in the women’s 800m dash.

Engineering is what’s known as an applied science. Generally they are applying science from other fields, mathematics, chemistry, physics. I’m sure there is some crossover where say, an engineer conducts a physics experiment, In that case that engineer may be a scientist.

I agree, but specialization is very important if you’re trying to pass yourself as an expert.

Depends on what you do. I have done a lot of R&D and in that role I definitely felt like I could be considered a scientist

Finally someone said applied science.
This is the correct definition for 9/10 Engineers.
I would say though we could be actual scientists too.
My studies with mmWave and mid band 5G certainly have that feeling.

I'm going to say yes. So I'm a scientist having graduated in a science major and then doing that work through my career. But my daughter graduated in engineering and when I look at the courses she took she most certainly took science courses. But they were very strenuous and technically/mathematically complicated courses. They just prove all their stuff with equations, either chemical, physics or mathematical which become very similar at her level.
