I have a couple cousins that have been arrested for drugs, I don’t know if it was a felony or misdemeanor, I don’t associate with their trashy asses.

I have had multiple family members serve prison time on both sides of my family. I wont lie and say that it doesnt pain me to see it.
I have 1 cousin who is on a murder charge. He gets out in a couple years. He has maintained to the family that he did not do that specific crime, but he has killed a man so it's all retribution now.
Another cousin who just got locked up for a couple armed robberies at a string of gas stations.
Another cousin who is simply addicted to drugs.
Another cousin who gang-bangs. He has never done any serious time. But usually it's only a matter of time for folks who are in that life. Although I have heard that he has been going legit and giving up thay lifestyle since he had his first child 3 years ago. I hope that sticks.
I have an unclr and a cousin who alleges they were deep in the drug dealing business in the 80s. Were apparently big deal guys in their cities making serious topnotch money . But havr since given up that life
A long time ago and both are completely different people now. The cousin who once sold drugs is a fairly successful car salesman, says it is the same thing as selling drugs except there's no risk of getting killed or going to jail.
This doesn't even include my great uncle. I only knew him as am 80 year old man. So many of could been just lies and rumbling. He never went to prison or anything. But he used to love to claim he killed more people in the streets as a teenager than he did fighting overseas in the war.
I have plenty of more people in mmy family who are doing well, never been locked up, etc. But the fact that I just named that many people off the top of my head is depressing af.

If we want to include close friends/former friends, I have two serious felons there.
One was a home invasion, kidnapping, and armed robbery (x2) because there were two victims in the home. He got 70+ years. Another was for armed robbery of a pharmacy, felony eluding, and attempted murder on a police officer. After wrecking and shooting at police, he was shot in the leg and nearly died. Not sure how long he got, but he was in his 40s when he did all of that, so he may die in prison.
The worst part is, both of these guys were fairly decent people prior to becoming criminal idiots. The first one was young and had no priors when he did the home invasion.

A few people I know are felons because of drugs. Someone I know is one for check fraud. He has been to rehab several times for gambling. He started off writing bad checks, but got caught doing that pretty quick. He ended up stealing blank checks from his parents and pretty much drained their checking account.
Their other kids finally convinced them to press charges on him for his own good. He went to jail, but that didn't do anything.
I know two people doing life in Angola...

I should be but I'm from New Orleans and know people.
My dad was also from New Orleans and knows even more people and he was still a multi-time felon. In normal society he would have died in prison.
My uncle was accused of murder. He's of Sicilian heritage. Also from New Orleans. Never saw the courtroom.

The only people I know at all (none are close friends or family) have been for white collar crimes similar to what Funes did other than involving college athletics. Similar sentences too.
A teacher in high school who I didn’t take a class from had a son who was in Angola for killing a gay man.

I have at least two HS friends that are felons.
I have a 2nd cousin that's been in and out of prison most of his adult life. He's about 45 now and I'd bet he's been in prison 20 of the 28 years since he turned 17.
