At the company I work at now, ours is great. It's a dude.

I've been places with absolutely crap HR though.

You do realize that a holiday party is not necessarily an "XMas" party, right?
In fact, that's something very typical of HR departments.

A good HR department can be a huge asset to both the company and employees.

Of course the problem is most HR departments are full of incompetent morons who jealously guard their little fiefdoms even worse than government employees.

What’s really fun is when the two combine in to a government HR org.

this happened to me but it was dental. My wife had to have some dental work done , I had renewed my insurance at the open enrollment. My wife calls me and tells me that she’s not insured. I go to HR lady, she says “ Well you didn’t list her”. I had her pull the files. Turns out I did list her. HR lady says “ oops we all make mistakes “. I was livid I go to upper management, nothing could be done My direct supervisor got involved helping me and then we got a call from management department head , if we didn’t drop it we would both be terminated. I had to come out of pocket 2k

You got played and cucked, they absolutely can fix it. My brother unknown to him went months without health insurance once. He had renewed at open enrollment then went to use his insurance several months into the new year and come to find out he was uninsured. Company was withdrawing his premiums but had never finished the process. They fixed it, so when they say there is nothing they can do it is complete bullshite.

And if the remaining 20% weren't women, they sure wanted to be.

HR isn’t there to protect employees.

HR is there to protect the company from employees, while smiling like they’re doing you a favor.

They’re the human version of “This call may be recorded for quality assurance.”

Every HR meeting starts with “We’re a family here” and ends with you Googling whether Louisiana is a one-party consent state.

Most are because they have been filled with DEI hires long before DEI was a thing.

I legitimately was starting to get nervous they would get hit with another major lawsuit and somehow try to throw me under the bus so they themselves weren’t fricked. It was so mismanaged I was scared of going to fricking jail for these dumb bitches.
Holy s***.

Did you hear if anything ended up happening to them or that company?

I'm not joking. We have zero (0) HR department, never have.

HR wasn’t always this bad. In the early 2000’s when HR focused primarily on hiring/firing, vacations, sick time, etc. they could be pretty good. The last 15 years they have shifted to focus so much attention on harassment, diversity, etc. which has led to less attention on what those roles used to be focused on.

Every TV show nowadays has some bitch character threatening to report something to HR.

So it's cemented into the culture now. People will report shite to HR at the drop of a hat.

And these same people wonder why work sucks and most males in and around the office are cold and distant.

It really a mindfrick for these people that they excluded. They ruined the work environment and now they mad.

But that said the most demoralizing component of the modern work environment is if there are more than two women they will gang up on a third and raise hell to the detriment of the organization.

They think they have a right to cause a problem and raise hell. It's just how they are and would be shocked to be told to act right (and then report you to HR).

This is true.

Additionally, the company should have stepped up and paid the amount their carrier should have paid. (At least, if not more for your inconvenience)

In the same situation, I just paid the entire amount (covered and deductible) for the employee for our insurance carrier’s failure to appropriately get the coverage in-place.

I dinged out insurance agency for the amount on our next premium payment. They ate it.

People with brains don't typically work in HR.

In fact they stay far away from anyone in HR.
