My employers Achilles heal seems to be payroll. You personally have to keep track of every minute you work and go over your paycheck because, more often than not, it’s going to be wrong.

Best part is, payroll got so sick of employees calling and bitching, they HAD THEIR PHONE DISCONNECTED, now all inquiries must be done through email. And if you don’t cc at least 2 levels of management above you, you’ll never hear back.

It’s either criminal or they’re borderline retarded.

Our HR announced “No XMas Parties” to cut costs

Almost immediately after the announcement, an internally created phishing email (fake message intended to train employees against phishing) goes out titled “You’re invited to the … Holiday party”

That went over very well

this happened to me but it was dental. My wife had to have some dental work done , I had renewed my insurance at the open enrollment. My wife calls me and tells me that she’s not insured. I go to HR lady, she says “ Well you didn’t list her”. I had her pull the files. Turns out I did list her. HR lady says “ oops we all make mistakes “. I was livid I go to upper management, nothing could be done My direct supervisor got involved helping me and then we got a call from management department head , if we didn’t drop it we would both be terminated. I had to come out of pocket 2k
I would have updated my resume at that point, and started looking for another job!

Or, contact a good employment lawyer ESPECIALLY if the dental insurance was being deducted from your pay. Getting fired may have resulted in a very big windfall for you!

Worst one I ever saw was one in a Ruston hospital. Overweight lady would wear low cut blouse to meetings and then have another person watch and see if anyone looked down her blouse. Idiot sat next to me and I had to lean forward on the table a hour.

Mine set up my insurance incorrectly based on what I selected in open enrollment. If I hadn’t been checking 2026 coverage then no one would have caught it. They admitted it was their mistake then took them two months to fix. Of course I was communicating with some DEI hire that hated my white male high earning arse.

You don’t until you do. My wife saved her company 500k a year in her first year.
She did that for free? And by herself? Her salary and benefits should be deducted from that amount to get the true net savings. And HR institutionally always continues to grow and creep and attempt to control and choke every facet of a company’s world.

The writers of “The Office” got HR Departments conceptually correct-

I noticed over a 30 year period that every function could be a target for out sourcing, except HR. Got to many meaningless stories to tell

People seem to think HR exists to protect it's employees. They do not, they exist to protect the company from the employees. Once you've sat across from this you understand.

You have to understand that the HR department is there to protect the organization, not to make your life easier. Once you learn this fact, their incompetence will start making sense.
