Wasn't Apple the company that refused to unlock an iPhone for the FBI or whoever to look through because they didn't have a warrant? I remember reading something like that.

The government wanted Apple to build in a backdoor that they could use to get into any locked/encrypted phone but Apple refused and said it wasn't possible. The tinfoil hat in me says it's because they didn't want to admit that a backdoor already exists for Apple themselves to get into locked/encrypted phones.

If you looked at hacked images from The Fappening, but are angry about this, then you might be a hypocrite.

I'm sure they can be totally trusted and will only use this for it's stated purpose.

Our government is working on a wide scale, persistent satellite surveillance system that will track every individual any time you are visible.

Imagine high definition surveillance cameras recording you and every other person's every move. It's already operational, just not on the scale they would like but that will come as data storage capacity increases and costs come down.

Tl;dr: we're already fricked.

If they're still going to film with the potatoes that mast security systems use, we have some time yet.

That's why the Apple Fact Checkers will review the photos first. Are you saying you don't trust Apple Fact Checkers to do the right thing?

I mean there's no way in hell those same fact checkers wouldn't see a photo they disagree with politically and immediately report your arse to the authorities saying the original picture is clearly child abuse. I mean that could never, ever, ever happen.

They're not. I can't remember where I saw it but this was an overhead tracking system that could track each individual based solely on the top of their head and shoulders. They were developing it for "solving crimes" basically the whole world is under surveillance and they can rewind and see everywhere a suspect went in the days leading up to the crime.

When did it become necessary for big tech companies to act as a law enforcement apparatus of our government!? Shouldn’t they be trying to protect the privacy of their customers?

According to that article, it doesn’t matter. Apple is gonna scan the photos stored on your iPhone.

I haven't downloaded an AP in a few years.. Recently I tried and was asked to grant permission to the AP to have access to my pics.. I selected "Deny" and the AP didn't download. Is this new or are they just asking now?

I agree that it is bullshite that they want to look at my pics. I have nothing to hide but I don't want any of my pics ending up on the internet.
