So some prick in California is looking at pictures that parents take of their kids splashing around in the tub?

That user has some questionable takes. They may believe they have good intentions, but this is a terrible suggestion.

I am all for holding child abusers accountable, but this is a huge infringement of privacy. I can't even believe this is a real consideration. Scanning photos on people's iphones and icloud? Yikes. And then they want to have someone try and decipher what is real abuse and potentially not? The photo investigated may not even belong to whoever they investigate. Perhaps another person stored it for evidence. Perhaps it had nothing to do with abuse. Some photos may be photoshopped. Talk about opening up a never ending can of worms here.

I have absolutely nothing to hide, but I wouldn't want someone accessing my photos. I may not personally like guns, but I think people absolutely have the right to own them, especially for protection. I think the same goes for privacy. I think people's privacy should be respected.

It's odd that anyone is okay with the idea of personal images being subjected to review. It's just scary to think they can access our stuff like that. I want to say I can't believe this is even real life, but nothing should surprise anyone anymore.

Another thought is this, and correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't Apple challenged courts wanting them to release personal information for murderers? Didn't they give people seeking actual justice a hard time over releasing personal data? I'm talking about really terrible people.

What if you're a reporter or social worker?

This won't do any good. Our current admin is pro liberal/pedophile/tranny/fricked up freak. Most working in the Biden admin are going to be the types that abuse children.

interesting. wonder how it will handle pics of newborns that people love to take?

ETA: I joked about someone sending out pics of their newborn son naked saying "great! now we're all on the list". Guess we actually are?

They're not. I can't remember where I saw it but this was an overhead tracking system that could track each individual based solely on the top of their head and shoulders. They were developing it for "solving crimes" basically the whole world is under surveillance and they can rewind and see everywhere a suspect went in the days leading up to the crim

I read a great book on this. At the time of the books writing, it was already available with drones and the tech was developed during the Iraq war to stop IED cells. They’d watch over a city, an IED go off, then watch the area in rewind to see who placed the bomb and where their safe houses went.

After the war ended, police departments started asking for the tech and it was used in a few cities but the book said at time of writing, it was not widely used due to privacy laws.

I hope common sense is exercised. Everybody takes pics of their newborns.
