The company said Thursday it will spend $1 billion to build a new campus in Austin, Texas. The city is already home to one Apple (AAPL) campus, a sprawling facility with 6,200 employees that is the company's largest outside its headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Apple's new Austin campus will be less than a mile from the existing one and will be spread across 133 acres, the company said in a statement. It is expected to make Apple the city's largest employer, with a workforce of 5,000 employees and the capacity to add 10,000 more.

Are these actual tech and development jobs or is this a call center?

I just did a search for “new businesses in New Orleans”. Only results that came back were restaurants.

Looks to be an expansion of the current presence: 'provide jobs covering engineering, research and development, operations, finance, sales and customer support'

sure seems to be the case

if this was the dem's plan then it's working out beautifully for them.

if not, then just a good coincidence.

either way, the shift in political climate in texas is happening very quickly.

Are you saying conservatives aren't qualified to work at Apple?

no, but i am saying most will either be Cali transplants or Austin hipsters. And surely you aren't naive enough to believe they'll vote conservative.

even if they do employ conservatives, they'll be silent conservatives. Wouldn't want to offend Mohmd Sunshine on the 3rd floor because they voted for Donald Trump in 2016 or voted to Ted Cruz in 2018.
