It's a very short story...but for anyone who has watched programming from various "streaming" content creators...Apple in my opinion has by FAR the highest quality content. The script writing, their casting, their editing etc. Apple+ is hands down the best in class.

So many amazon prime shows have a hallmark low quality mass produced type quality to them.

You can add Netflix to that list as well

There's too many streaming services...people have to pick and choose. Apple just looks like it is on the short end here.

I've never paid for apple+ because they give so many free trials away for the service.

There is only so much time in the day to watch all of this content. We’ve got Netflix, Prime, Disney+ (for the toddler), and Paramount+ and even that is way too much for how little time that we can spend watching stuff.

Better get their asses moving on the next season of Ted Lasso then.

But they make $1500 profit on every phone they sell, so they still make money.

Price and time. These streaming services are starting to go the way of cable. The cost does not warrant what you are getting and people don't have the time. Most people binge watch and it costs about the same maybe less to just pay as you go.

Who wants to watch Ted coach an all women’s team? Maybe they are losing money cause a lot of the content is woke BS.

Us too...except we just canceled Netflix. I've noticed that we just barely watch it, and when I'm on the app I struggle to find anything good. Netflix has a lot of shitty content, and a lot of incomplete series. They throw a lot of garbage at the wall and hope it sticks. They also cancel series after a couple of seasons to focus on something new. The result is that I spend more time looking for things than I do watching things on there, so we canceled it a few months back. Also they have a lot of woke bullshite too, and I don't trust them not to produce something that sucks.

Paramount + is okay but I can live without it. This is one that I only watch when the handful of series on there we watch gets a new season. Canceled it this month but subscription runs until mid April. I may restart it when the next season of Fraiser airs, but only temporarily. Most of their content doesn't hit with us.

Disney+ is going to be hard to cancel with the kids. They have some good older content too even though a lot of their new stuff is garbage. Can't wait for them to outgrow this, but that may not happen for a long, long time. My kids are young. NatGeo is a nice add on here though. I love the non-woke Star Wars content even though Disney ruined the newer stuff. They are super woke but their older productions are still great.

Max is going to get canceled soon. It's been a while since they had something that we liked. We never watch it anymore, and their new show ( The Pitt) that we were excited about is not great. It's unnecessarily diverse and basically just a modern "ER" but with only one or two okay characters. The funny part is that I lived in Pittsburgh for years and my wife did rotations at the hospital where they filmed some of the exterior shots......and we still couldn't identify with any of the characters. We literally lived that life and it still doesn't work for us. I will probably turn it back on every few years for a while. Canceled this month but subscription runs until early April. I'll check what they have in a couple of years and consider restarting it.

Apple TV is watched a lot because of Ted Lasso and a few of their other series that are decent, but we are running out of things to watch there. They are in danger of being canceled if they can't generate new, quality content.

Hulu is watched fairly often for local news, and we can find things we like on there. I don't love it, but it provides value in line with their subscription costs to us. We watch live sports there too. And I can usually find some kind of comedy show to passively watch. Maybe 30-45 minutes per day on average when you count local news; but if the local news starts to suck again or if NIL continues to destroy college sports to the point where I stop watching - Hulu gets canceled through no fault of their own.

Prime is a solid product; no plans to get rid of it. Lots of bad, but lots of good there. We watch this the most and sometimes buy additional content there for things we really like and want to keep digital copies of. When I need low effort, relaxing programming it's there. Unfortunately that's all I really have time for. Watching Clarkson's Farm a little bit at a time now and it's awesome. I bought the new Top Gun Maverick film and a few others that I really enjoy or that my kids like.

It does, if you don't just let the subscription live all year in perpetuity. Go ahead and subscribe to Max for two months, catch up on 18 months of programming, and cancel it. Wait a year, do it again.

It's why sports programming (excluding the NBA and MLB) is worth so much to Paramount and others; you can't cancel that for seven months out of the year.

This. You can get free trials long enough to watch what you want.

Just keep it alive until Severance can have a proper life span. If they screw this up I'd almost hate myself enough to use an Android based phone.

Apple+ has a much higher hit rate than any other service.

If you're wondering why, it's because they brought on a lot of the HBO suits that were ousted during the merger with Time Warner

Remember the stretch where HBO was cranking out all time great shows one after the other? All the dudes responsible for that are at Apple now

Get one or two streaming services at a time and swap it up monthly. There is no reason to carry them all at the same time.

Um, you just said what is said only used different words.

What I said - Most people binge watch and it costs about the same maybe less to just pay as you go.

What you said - Go ahead and subscribe to Max for two months, catch up on 18 months of programming, and cancel it. Wait a year, do it again.

This is why they are failing, people are dropping the year round contract because the cost does not warrant what you are getting.

They do but a lot of their hits are aimed at audiences that don't necessarily like their other hits. It's like HBO in the 1990s - people that loved Sopranos didn't necessarily like Sex in the City.

Smart on their part to grow their subscriber base because they have something for almost everyone, but it means they need to work hard to keep those different markets by constantly creating new content for each of those different groups. If they can do that, they will be a dominant player while the others (Netflix in particular) grow stagnant over the next decade.

I do appreciate that their proprietary offerings are usually very good quality even if I don't always like them.
