Old boomer here, the first IPODs were fascinating.A thousand or so songs in that little device was mind boggling.
It still pisses me off that CD players are no longer in vehicles though.I have a bunch of CD’s I liked to listen to when I was driving.

Didn't know they hadn't been discontinued already. I haven't seen one in years, not since the mini or nano.
Since then, they were obsolete due to smart phones being capable of the same thing.

My wife is still mad because she can't play her cassettes.
I found an old box of 8 track tapes I wouldn't mind listening to myself.

I remember cutting yards all summer in 2006 to save up to buy an iPod video. So worth it.

Ipod Gen5 was the last Apple product I bought.

iPod Video was better than all of that garbage and didn't even get a mention?

iPod touch, first introduced on September 5
I was in maybe 8th or 9th grade when this came out; I remember every boy at my school with one had porn on that sucker.

I rocked the iPod mini on my waistband of my shorts at the gym while I was in high school
That thing got me to the swole bro I was then and am today. Grateful

I'll still use my iPod if we're somewhere with bad reception like an LSU tailgate.
You know how easy it is to download music to Spotify/AM?

iPod classic with like 150 or whatever gigs was where it was at.

I don't feel like I'll miss the iPod. I have multiple generations of the iPod in various junk drawers around the house and they never got used.

How do you guys load songs on to it? Does iTunes still exist?
You think I change my playlist?
I nailed it the first time.

What options are there now for kids that need a music player but parents don't want to buy a phone?

I still use my Shuffle every now and then
Shuffle is still a solid product for workouts where you don’t want a huge iPhone bouncing around, but with the watch going for 4x the price it’s days were clearly numbered.

It really is kind of incredible that Apple crushed the market while introducing their own file format that can only be used on their products. MP3 players were already on the market, but were clunky. Apple make a sleek, easy to use device while also forcing people into their ecosystem, and did so with the absolute worst music management program out there -iTunes.
