Every day except Saturday and Sunday. I start work at 6am and like to get some things done (run, etc.) before starting my day.

I understand your point, but I know myself, after working a full day my motivation to workout and do chores is low.

Are you going to be motivated to work the last few hours of the day? You’re talking about a 2PM wall so probably not. It sounds like you’re going to have a motivational problem either way. Figure out a way to make yourself motivated for workouts and chores. I can guarantee when you do have kids, that if you’re not motivated to do that stuff whenever you get the chance, then it won’t happen. And altering your body’s natural rhythm to get a temporary motivation boost is going to hurt you more in the long term

You probably hear a lot of older guys talking about getting up early and getting stuff done. But they also go to bed earlier and they burn out earlier. You’re not getting anything extra out of waking up early, it’s just a different time of day

3:45 Tue-Fri to hit the gym before work. Try to go to bed around 8 the night before. Weekends I sleep without alarm and go to gym after waking up. No gym on Mondays so I sleep til 5:15.

Take a pre-workout on gym days to help get me going.

Before Covid, 4:30 or 5:00 was very regular for me. I was doing triathlon and would be up to get a workout in before leaving for work. It was just natural and I thought that would just be the way I'd be for the forseable future. Then working from home allowed me to make my own schedule. I took advantage of it big time. Now that I am back in the office, I have a hard time not hitting snooze at 5:30 and there is no way I'm doing any kind of workout at that time. It's a hard rhythm to get into, but once in it, it's not so bad to keep. When you are out, you are out though.

I have really heavy blackout curtains. I do stay up later if I don’t have work the next day.

That’s nice, but i think the whole ‘waking up early as a badge of honor’ is silly .

I'm with you here. I get up early because I'm far more productive going in to work early than I am if I stay late. It isn't because I think it's inherently better, it's just better for me. I don't get why people think they're better than others because they wake up earlier.

One think I have noticed is the dudes who stay at work late get noticed more than the dudes who show up early.

You never need to ask if someone wakes up at 4 am because they will tell you with a sense of superiority.

I think most people just tend to stop being able to sleep late as they get older. My dad gets up at 4 and he's been retired for 17 years.
