My bulk supply of Gillette razors is running low and I’m not going to buy any more products from that company for obvious reasons.

I’ve never tried a straight razor before but I’ve heard you get a closer shave with them. I have a couple of scars under my chin so that concerns me a little. If I mess up while shaving, am I going to die? How difficult are they to use?

They're too expensive?

I use a double edge razor. A learning curve no doubt but I love it now. You can get a handle for around $25 and then a pack of 100 blades for around $10.

The disposable ones I use are a couple bucks apiece, for about 3 shaves each.

Try not to get so triggered. I use it. Works well if you shave every day. If I let it grow out a few days it’s a pain.

Just a warning if you're doing it for this reason, Gillette owns a lot of companies that do double edge razors too. Not sure about straight razors. Just do your research.

Tried to dive into the world of old-school wet shaving the other week.

Holy overload of information.

Yeah, I’m looking at Facon razors on Amazon. It doesn’t look like they’re owned by Gillette.

Not a straight but I use a safety razor (the double edge ones). It doesn’t take as nearly as long to shave as people let on.

used to go to the local barber in Kuwait for haircut and the dude was a scary Afghani with a rag head. when it came time to dress up sideburns out can the straight razor. 25 years later I still only get a hair cut every six months because stress tramidic syndrome over that straight razor

Bic has a double blade disposable. The good ones have a green handle. 20 or 30 bucks for 60 on Amazon. I replaced Gillette Good News disposables with these. They are a lot better.

I've never shaved myself with one, but I've had a barber use one on me. I don't think that I got as close a shave as I do at home, but it was a cool experience.
