It's all I used back when I shaved. Takes longer than any other way, but you do get a closer shave and it's a bit therapeutic.
It is cool that you dont get it all plugged up and shite if you miss a day. If you know how to sharpen a knife and all that good shite it'll be a pretty easy change.
Get a styptic pen, you'll need it the first few times

It's relaxing, self care if you take your time.

Buy this instead.

I use a double edge razor. A learning curve no doubt but I love it now. You can get a handle for around $25 and then a pack of 100 blades for around $10.
Yup. Paid about $30 for a sturdy arse Edwin Jagger safety razor and buy a pack of 100 blades for $10 every year or so while getting a better shave than I ever had before.
I'll never understand paying $16 for a 4 pack of those 5 blade monstrosities that tear up your face.

My bulk supply of Gillette razors is running low and I’m not going to buy any more products from that company for obvious reasons.

This is the only answer, IMO. I switched about 5-6 years ago and have never looked back. In that time span I think I've spent maybe $30 on new blades. Maybe.
Merkur 34C razor with Feather blades, Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving soap, and a badger hair brush.
When I look at the cost of all the 3, 4, and 5 blade razor cartridges, compared to safety razor blades, I just laugh. They're expensive as frick, eat your face to shreds, and don't last. Pass.

How difficult are they to use?
I have a straight razor and they have a pretty steep learning curve especially when it comes to keeping them sharp enough to shave comfortably.
Actually shaving with one isn't too difficult, just keeping the angle correct and going slow because the length of the blade makes it easier to cut yourself away from the area you're trying to shave.
But keeping them sharp enough is a bitch. Better off to go with a safety razor that uses disposable blades or a disposable straight razor.

Like others have said, get a safety razor. Then I'd suggest a variety pack to figure out which type or brand of blade you prefer. I find I prefer either Astra or Shark, others swear by Feather. And there are varying degrees of sharpness and thinness in between.

I've shaved with straight razors before and still have 2 of them. You just have to get the feel for how they work since there is no guard on them like other razors where just the edge of the blade is showing.
There is a learning curve for sure and it is easy to nick yourself with them if not careful or you get cocky thinking you have it down pat.
The biggest thing with them is keeping the blade sharp. I have a strop that has Irish Linen on one part and the leather on the other and that really hones the blade to an excellent edge.
They also make straight razors with disposable blades, but I prefer the traditional ones.

Like everyone else here mentioned, safety razor with a quality badger hair brush and quality shave cream.
Interesting side note: if you're ever in an old house, and the bath room has a slit in the wall - normally in a tile wall around the sink - this is where men used to dispose of their spent razors. I've seen house remodels where they'd bust open the bathroom wall, and there'd be a pile of decades old rusty razors piled up between the wall studs.
I have something like this to dispose of spent razors.

For every day shaving, I use a DE safety razor. For special occasions/weekends, I use a DOVO straight razor. I use strop it up and take my time.

Wet shaving is about the process. It’s a zen thing that you do to get your mind right in the morning.

Entry level soap would be pre de provence No. 63., tabac, Nivea, Pomalive, Spiek
Mid level would be Stirling Soaps from Arkansas, Oleo Soapworks/west Coast Shaving, Mikes Natural Soaps
Top level would be Barrister and Mann, Wholly Kaw, Grooming Dept., Noble Otter, Declaration Grooming
Yes, I fell down the wormhole

Official razor of the OT, at least from previous threads about safety razors. I bought one and feel like a man everytime I use it.

Try Rockwell 6S or Karve CB razors. They have interchangable plates for blade gaps. Well made, tight tolerances and will last forever.
