Oh that hissing of the modem as you dialed into someone's basement server to wile away your hours on forums and playing Red Dragon, Usurper and Tradewars.
Yes, this was before the internet was ubiquitous. Before FTP, Telnet, GOPHER and Usenet and chatrooms. This was when you literally dialed someone's home number with your little 14.4 modem...or a 56K if you were a rich kid.

Ah, yes...the good ole days when one nude .jpg took 7 minutes to dl.
And it always paused just above the nipple or fupa.
My friend ran his BBS out of his G-maws guest house on Highland, and it took him like 2 weeks to dl a pirated copy of the original Wing Commander...took up like 17 3.5s.
