You might want to rethink investing on your own.
And believe me, I say that with luv.

Was going to get one but they wouldn’t give me a 10 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty so I got the Honda instead.

There are numerous ‘16s on Autotrader with low miles for $130k range.

quote:The 570s are a bit more reliable than the mp412c that he had because the 570 has a fixed suspension. When one magnetic shock goes out on the mp4, it takes out all the shocks as well as the whole steering system. Those cars still have tons of electrical gremlins and i'd never want to own one especially if I am not near a dealer. As far as value, yes they tank and they keep pumping them out, there are rumors of lots full of unsold new cars somewhere. Only ones with any hope of holding value are the LT editions and the hypercars. Anytime you can go buy a new supercar off the lot with 30-40k off MSRP without asking, depreciation is not going to be good. They will never be worth 0 but you will lose your arse buying one. The rental agencies rarely get more than 50k miles from an engine when they have Huracans approaching 200k miles.

Get a 488. A lot more fun than the 570S.

I test drove one earlier this week in Newport Beach and now I'm seriously thinking about pulling the trigger on the 570s. I know its an impractical car for day to day use and would be purchasing it for investment purposes really with minor recreational use.
If you think the 570 is for investment purposes you are too dumb to have 200k to spend on a car. They depreciate about like the similarly priced 911 Turbo S. The best option is buying a 2016 or 2017 with almost no miles for $125-$140k.
The main issue with a Macca in Louisiana (if you live in LA) is the lack of dealer support, it is the same with Ferrari and Lamborghini. The 911 Turbo S is a better car in a huge number of ways (outside cache) and it is almost as reliable as a Toyota.

I like the looks of the R8. Spyder is cool. Or the older models.
I know dick about cars. But I think I’d rather have that based on dealer support.
But super cars aren’t my thing. Prefer a Bentley Continental convertible is I was buying at that price point. And wouldn’t buy new, something like a 15 for 120ish.

If I could drive one McLaren, it would be one of these two:

Buy a manual GT3 or an older 911 if you want to park your money in a car

No offense but I really don’t see how purchasing an entry-level Mclaren could be considered an investment.

Watch a few Hoovies garage videos about his and then DON"T do it.
The repair bills on his were insane.

There is a new one every week day.
Some are dull and drawn out to make the 10 minute minimum.
Best stories are usually from Doug with Switchcars, John with Curated, and Ed himself. Rabbit has too much used care salesman for my liking, but his stories are good if you just go for the ride.

One thing you can say about the MP4-4 is it definitely worked out better for Senna than the Williams FW16...

McLarens tend to depreciate a pretty good bit. Not sure the investment angle.

Vinnie’s exotics in Baton Rouge can take care of service if you decide to pull the trigger. But yes, to echo what’s already been said, buy used because if owning an exotic turns out not to be what you think, it will be an easier pill to swallow when you sell.
