I'd say that someone on this board has owned an exotic at one time or another.
But as others have said it's not going to be an investment.
It's meant to be a toy and not an investement and no body with the means to buy one will think of it with an investment.
And when I say "the means to buy one" I don't mean someone that finances it for 5 or 6 years; I mean someone that simply wires the money and pays for it with "cash."
If I was buying one I'd choose a Huracan since it has normal doors. The dihedral and scissor doors frighten me.

I owned one of these in the 90’s. Wasn’t much more than a body kit on a regular mustang. But I’m sure this is not the car you are talking about.

If you are buying a "super car", I urge you to fly to Dallas and drive at least 5-6 other makes. I did exactly this for 2 days in 2014. After driving others, the "one" I thought I wanted, as well as the others I was considering all fell short in overall fun, refinement, and handling of the Porsches I drove. I never was a fan of Porsche until I A/B'd with the other big super car names...spending the second day going back and forth between the three I'd narrowed down to, it was a Porsche I drove home... and to be honest, there wasn't another car even close when all was said and done.
The McLaren is exotic, beautiful, and crazy fast in a straight line... but service/dealers are sparse, resale and reliability is still a bit questionable. On the other hand, the Porsche 911 is known as the single most reliable car in the world.. and if you buy a desirable model/package/color they can be virtually free to drive when resale time comes. I do know what it's like to get hung up on one car and no other will do, I've been through dozens over the years from vintage Jaguar XKE's to 60's American big blocks, Italians to BMW M-series... but after almost 40 years of "enthusiast" owning and driving everything I can get my hands on, I really wish I would have learned earlier. Porsche has spoiled all others for me and I would buy nothing else.
If money's no object, here is no performance feat in which a McLaren can beat a Porsche. One big difference I experienced was when driven hard, all other super cars are steaming, popping, crackling metal sounds, smelling like rubber smoking from heat after pushing them to the limit, the Porsche is still calm, relaxed, and cool like you just putted down the street to drop off the wife...plus Porsche gives you world class performance while still more dependable than the family Camry, Accord, or Lexus. You may still want the 570 but I would implore you to at least get a few more side by side to put through the paces for comparison. Good luck.

Rabbit is awesome. Doug has the best stories. Ed is pretty good too.

It isn't my fault Senna forgot to turn left at Tamburello.

While true and they have done some excellent modding to my Porsches in the past the OP was thinking (fantasizing) about buying new. Unless you have the money to have a car under warranty trailered back to a dealer 4.5 hours away it is a major concern. Those willing to spend this kind of money to support a car would be looking at least at a 720S if not a Senna.
If someone wants to buy a Ferrari, Lamborghini or McLaren for an investment they need to consider vintage or one of the hypercars. Outside of the short term frenzy on Ferrari mid-engine V8s the rest are just money sinks, fine if you have the money and understand it.

quote:Yeah most people don't think of them as an "investment" but most do keep depreciation in mind and didn't get to that level without paying attention to things like that. As far as paying for them I'm sure the buyers are all over the place. Some pay cash, others finance when they have the cash but are using the money to make more elsewhere, many lease for business purposes and some are faking until they make it.
But as others have said it's not going to be an investment.

He did turn, it was the understeer that got him.

I wouldn't even drive a McLaren on my way to my other garage to switch out my Monday Bugatti for my Tuesday Koenigsegg.

The fact that you think it's an investment kind of shows you do not invest well enough to have the money to own one. Terrible fake flex

Twas a joke, probably in poor taste, I have used it many times to set off the Senna zealots.
There is no settled reason for the crash. Drivers error, puncture, steering column etc are all in the mix. In the end, I see it as that the FW16 was a steaming pile (apologies to Newey) and Senna's fighting spirit forced him to out drive the chassis, it was a car HE could drive on the limit for a lap but over the course of a season it was going to bite him trying to stay in front of the superior Benneton B194 with M. Schumacher driving. The long safety car period behind the brutally slow Opel Vectra, maybe they should have used the 911 Senna made sure was not used as the pace car on the formation lap.
Very sad weekend at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari. Barrichello came close to dying and Ratzenberger and Senna both did.

You heard there is talk of going back to Imola?

What's the story on this?
I've always heard about the SC being a slow econobox but never heard a faster car was available but not used.

I recently bought one. I thought about paying cash but I opted for 12 year financing.

The shitbox was an Opel Vectra with no significant mods so when it was out there for 6 laps the tire temps on the F1 cars dropped significantly. Senna fulled up beside him motioning him to go faster but the brakes were shot by the end of the first lap.
The 911 was the new 911 at the time there as the pace car for promotional purposes. Senna was pissed about a 911 being too slow so during the drivers meeting he had Berger raise the issue to the officials (Senna was pissed about Ratzenberger's death the day before and showed his arse to the race officials earlier and wouldn't talk to them anymore). The 911 went out on the formation lap well ahead of the F1 cars so as not to slow them down. It never reappeared. He complained about a 911 for one lap and ended up with a Vectra for 6 laps, not suggesting who's fault it was just that more odd parts of a tragic puzzle. In the end, the 911 would have been much faster than the Vectra and Senna might be an old man driving at Goodwood these days or the same thing may have happened.

I prefer Monza (La Pista Magica) if there is only one race inside Italy but if they keep adding races to the calendar they are going to have to look at some of the "abandoned" historical tracks.

Yea I knew about that.
Just don’t understand why the organizers/FIA thought “ok the drivers are angry that our pace car is too slow and tire/brake temps are too low so let’s ditch the sports car and have the safety car be a shitbox that’s not even half as fast”
