BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore says he’s concerned after a particularly violent July Fourth weekend in Baton Rouge in which two people were killed and six were injured in multiple shootings. Meanwhile, the Baton Rouge Police Department is trying to recruit amid nationwide protests against law enforcement. Moore says Baton Rouge has seen an uptick in crime in the past few months, once when the coronavirus pandemic got going in March, and again now in the middle of summer. To combat this, BRPD is trying to get more officers on the street to better protect the community.

Starting BRPD salary is $38,153...step right up!

Some of the protestors should be the change they want to see and join up.

The only people who are going to apply now are going to be completely inept or corrupt from the beginning.

Just think, you too can make 38 grand/year. With that includes:

No backing from your mayor.
Instantly villainized by the segment of the population you most readily come in contact with.
Any attempt to do your job will immediately cost you your job, career, and life.
Democrat politicians will actively seek to reduce your pay, equipment, and training.
And, your family will also become targets if you attempt to do your job.

Who would pass up on this?

Would not even consider it at 10x the current $38,153.

Jobs I’d rather have than being a BRPD cop in 2020:

Elephant shite scooper with Barnum & Bailey
Asbestos tester
Sewer worker in Calcutta
COVID vaccine test subject

"Hate being poor? Now you could be hated AND poor with the BRPD. Sign up today to hate your life and still be poor!"

Mayor Broom, if you happen to be listening, I write slogans / ads for a nominal fee.

If I was ever considering being a cop it would be in some quiet suburb. Screw dealing with some of the human scum BRPD is forced to deal with on a regular basis.

This is simple economics at this point.

You want competent people? Up that pay, buddy.

Like, seriously up it. Median household income for a baton rouge resident is right at 53k. I don't see how anyone who has any other options in life (and that's exactly who you want to go after), would do it for less than $60k STARTING OUT. If you have a competent person who is staring down the barrel of college, a trade apprenticeship, or civil service, and they can do either of those things without a hiccup, you have to make it enticing. And I'm sorry, but anyone with a brain, even at 20 years old understand that less than $40,000 is absolutely peanuts for what you're risking with that job.

There's no need for spreading misinformation.

Starting salary is actually around 32k. It goes up to 38k after one year of service when they start getting an additional 6k through state supplemental pay.

Yep.

You want better police? And I think we can all agree that we should probably have better police, then we seriously need to increase pay.

Right now all we are doing are attracting people with no other options.

An insecure person with no other options but desires power is exactly what no one should want as a cop.
