That doesn’t sound like you were being sober, guy.
Sounds like you were assuming and judging my character solely based on an internet username. I own a seasoning business called “Ragin Blaze”. I have customers throughout the U.S., and have donated dozens of Cajun seasoning care packages to the troops stationed overseas. So yeah, I definitely “Got Blaze”

Since I believe in giving back, and taking care of my customers , I include a FREE packet of Taco Seasoning with every order placed. Soccerfut, now that you know the truth behind my username, hopefully you have learned not to call people out or pass judgment without knowing the facts.

Three of us in this office fit this description if you're still taking a poll.

I'm pretty sure a great fondness for alcohol is required for any construction related career.

We’re all of you drinking in the mornings and shite? What makes you finally say you need to go to this?
nope... alcohol wasn't even my thing, really... prescription pills were, but in rehab, i was finally able to see how "successful" drinking played a role in my piss poor ability to make good decisions... so while i'm not a "problem drinker", i'm 110% an alcoholic/addict... i do both NA and AA, and while i'm not going to say it's saved my life, it does give me perspective and motivation to stay clean and sober

I drank alcohol from about age 16 on.
It does ruin things in your life. For me it was spending time drinking and always having everything revolve around it. I noticed after many years if I did not drink I would start to get withdraw very fast like in 4-6 hours.
I knew it was not good for me. I went to AA and knew right away that a 12 step program was not for me. I drank not because of enjoyment it seemed more like a job almost like it was medicine to stop withdraws from happening and always with the fear of having some sort of seizure.
Long story short the way I stopped is that I was in the hospital for 5 days for something else. When I was there I started having those withdraws and they put me on detox stuff at the hospital while I was recovering from the other stuff I was in for.
I came out of the hospital and stopped drinking. I did smoke some weed for a few years after that.
It felt good not to be anchored down always “having” to drink so I just stopped.
It was a major lifestyle change and for about 6months really just laid low. Did not go out. Eating At restaurant was not enjoyable.
It was amazing how much time I wasted revolving it around alcohol.
The boredom was a real problem for me.
Eventually I started finding other things I liked doing.
For me staying busy was key.
I almost became ocd in how clean my house was and how I organized things but for some reason that organization just felt better.
It was the lesser of the two evils.
Here I am today. No alcohol.
I found that talking about it gave me more strength but AA just was not a place I liked. I know it does work for many.
My close friend went the rehab route. Ended up having a seizure in rehab and hitting his head. Ended up in the hospital himself. There he went the same route as me. Detoxed there and never looked back.
Who you live with will make a major impact on doing it.
Your wife needs to be all in.
Don’t be embarrassed by it because it is actually a sign of strength to be able to fight it and see it that way. You have to be stronger then the alcohol and take inner pride in not drinking each and every time your brain says stuff like let’s stop at that gas station or when you are walking around a grocery store and see it advertised. Your brain will play tricks on you.
Good luck good to see posts like this very few times a year. Sometimes I want to click on them sometimes I don’t. I saw this a day ago and passed reading it because l did not want to think about it.
I saw it was still going this morning and felt drawn to reading it and posting myself.

I’m not sure you comprehend what these guys are drinking and to what extent. At some point that upset tummy hangover that most people recognize becomes a body crawling ache that requires another few shots to stop it.

Sobriety is a great thing. I’m not sure I had a problem, but I walked away from alcohol and feel great. I try to support others pursuing sobriety as the stories I hear are tragic.

Interesting that the question of hangover keeps popping up. I never would get hangovers or did not even recognize them.

I’m sure a more reasonable person than me would have recognized “Got Blaze” referred to spices rather than to pot.
Thanks for donating dozens of spice packages to our troops stationed overseas.

I just made one year of being sober. No meetings at all. Just was able to change habits and lifestyle. I don’t ever remember feeling this good day after day in my adult life.and we are talking like 40 years of heavy drinking. Stopped cold Turkey. I have zero problems with AA meetings. They have help thousands of people over the years.

Wow, gotcha. Just trying to figure out how it gets to that poin
Drinking alone and at home regularly is a good indication that you need to stop.
If you suddenly change to vodka for no good reason, especially cheap vodka, your about to enter a whole world of hurt and bodily destruction.

they're not for me necessarily but they do help a lot of people.
You have to be structured, which I have issues with. The rules don't work with my psyche.

Any tips on helping/convincing a family member he has to get help? He's lost his wife and kids and has a ton of health problems and he's only 37. I'm afraid he still hasn't hit rock bottom yet. Not sure he'll survive it if he does.

Lol, that’s kinda the point. But if you’ve found something that works, that’s what’s important.

Now you're crawfishing and trying to deflect the subject.

my point being, why judge people and question their sobriety when you have ZERO knowledge of the facts ?
Regarding my seasoning company, I appreciate your "thanks" for me sending care packages to the troops.
If you know anyone (niece, nephew, cousin, neighbor, godchild, etc...) in the military, reach out to me and I'll send them a seasoning care package complimenting you as the sender.

Quit going bc it made me want to drink more sitting through that bullshite. Celebrate recovery is better imo. Or church. Bunch of shitbags fulfilling court orders at the AA meetings I’ve been to. Maybe I just had a couple bad experiences.
