I have a FB friend who sells the memberships to the prime national savings group or whatever it's called. He and his wife are always posting shite about it. They must not be doing too well because they both still have their 50k/year jobs.

Less than 2% of advocare folks make even 40K per year. 55 % make 6-7 K per year before expenses.

I think what most people miss out on is the structure of these kinda businesses. The advocare guy selling $4,000 a month doesn't make jack off of it. Say you buy a can of spark at a 40% discount as an "advisor". You pay $31 for a $52 product but you also pay the 9% sales tax(varies based on location) on the retail price up front, even if you discount it when you sell it. Also you pay shipping which even if you plan well will add a dollar or 2.

You've paid nearly $40 for a product advertised at a retail of $52. The "plan" is to sell it at retail plus tax plus realistically you could hit them for shipping too but good luck selling products for retail plus 10% or more. Most instances you can buy a comparable product and purchase via amazon or other means with discounts and free shipping.

Thats where the pyramid comes in...the guys who really make money have to layer on a ton of other people selling and adding signups.

They have a handful of products that I like and quite a few I don't, I bought enough to get advisor discount on product for myself and a couple friends mostly because we like their spark and a couple of other niche products. When it comes to protein etc, I don't like their product so I don't buy it.

All that bragging is such obvious bullshite that is designed to lure in more suckers.

Think about it. Who would go around bragging that since they went to work in a legit job at ABC, Inc. they are taking expensive vacations, driving a luxury car, and bringing in $$$$ per month? Almost no one. Yet almost all these multi-level marketers do. Assholes.

Friend of mine was telling me that certain pyramid schemes were a long running enterprise among high school guys all over the north shore in the late 90s.. Any Covington or mandeville people can attest to that? Or can substantiate that? I always wanted to know the full story of what he was talking about. Basically He said somebody would come up to him and effectively say "want to be in the pyramid? Pay $10.." And like
The next week he got like a $100 return... Not gonna name names but He said he didn't know how or what the details were but a shot load of people over there were doing this back in the day.

Went to a few meetings, the guy claimed he was retired before 40. He spent 30-40 hours or more pushing Advocare. Meanwhile he wore a sports coat that didn't fit and old cheap shoes. I just could not buy into his claim that he made $30k per month.

I remember doing a mail scheme a long time ago with friend. Got a letter with my name on it and seven others. It was supposed to make us thousands and thousands of dollars if it worked. I had to send one dollar to each person on the list, put my name on the bottom and move everyone up after taking the first guy off. Then make copies and send to seven people with directions to do the same. We were not going to send it friends and look stupid. So we looked up seven names in the phone book and sent them. Not surprisingly, we did not get any returns and were out of seven dollars.

I know a few people who have sold different weight loss shakes who claim to make money. They post pictures traveling all over but really they are flying to see pyramid scheme conferences and not really vacationing. They all have credit card debt yet drive really nice vehicles that are leased and not owned. They all exaggerate their income and hate when you ask too many questions.

Is the rainbow vacuum cleaning business a pyramid scheme? We have one, got it about 8 years ago, whatever I think its overpriced. Several weeks before Christmas someone from the company started calling the house. On the caller ID, it showed they would call every day around the same time then they would call at night.. between 8:30-9PM. The week before Christmas someone was at my house and answered the phone & told them frickers its not anything they want to think about until after the holidays.. The Monday after new years they started calling again, same time. I think they were trying to sell some upgraded parts or some shite, but they are relentless and if anyone on this board sells them, dont ever call people while any sporting events are on

I think rainbow vacuum is just a persistent door to door business, they've been around forever and people love their stuff. My cleaning lady brings her professional looking rainbow when she comes. And my aunt had a behemoth one back in the 80s

People (it's mainly women, TBH) that sell crap to their friends are the worst. As a SAHM I'm constantly asked to these stupid parties or worse online "parties" sometimes by ppl I just met once before.

An old acquaintance messaged me on FB recently and was all, Oh, I just saw your name pop up, how are you doing? It seemed off bc I haven't had time to post pics or anything since just prior to Christmas & she and I were never close to begin with. On a hunch I checked her page before replying- yep, she sells some shite. No thanks!

I would not do well at this because I only have 3 friends and they'd ban me as soon as I started trying to sell to them.

Yeah and the ones who start these "businesses", and I use that term loosely, make money while over 99% of the others in their "business" lose their asses. That's not a made up statistic.

The 30killionaires on Facebook are putting on a show to try and lure in others. Behind the scenes they are racking up debt pumping all of their money into minimum monthly purchases, with the ultimate hope that others join their downline so that they can stop recruiting and live the high life. For over 99% of them, it never happens, and sadly many of them lose everything. Marriages, savings, etc.
