Herman slipped up and knocked up Gertrude. After Gertrude had her babies she ate Herman's head off. Then a few days later she killed all her babies, we got rid of Gertrude after that.

Had hamsters as a kid. Don't worry about the cage being a problem. Your kids will probably lose them anyway. We lost ours a lot. We'd find them a week later after they'd chewed up socks or underwear in the chest of drawers. They do a lot of climbing.

You like keeping rats in your house?
Posted on 9/22/19 at 9:13 pm to dallastiger55
Do not get a rodent!!!!!!
Went through them all when sons were kids.
Guinea pigs can smell! If you get a male as they get older their balls can get bigger than burrow’s
Nothing cute about a rodent dragging balls around the cage!
Had a gerbil for one day! Brought it home . Next morning son looked at it and it chewed it darn tail off! It was a little kangaroo one
Took it back that day
Mice are ok but what is the point
Had a housebroken rabbit but they chew stuff up
Just make the leap and get a dog you know you really want one and the kids do also
And dogs really are the best living things on this earth!

Anyone have/had a hampster or guinea pig for their kids
I had a hamper once, but I lost it in the divorce settlement.
Now I just leave stuff on the floor.

Don't do it. The kids will not take care of it more than likely, and they require a fair amount of care. The cage needs to be cleaned very often, they go through water like there is no end, so the cage stays wet near the water bottle.
They crap as fast as they eat and love to be noisy at night.

Guinea pigs are all work and no interaction.
I did it.
Dog can be a big plus.
Your home, location and time available say a lot.
Cat is easy and young kids can have home time with it.
Brush it.
Marvel at its killing skills.
Dog has big upside, requires the most.

its not difference from having a dog or cat. You sill have to feed the thing, clean the cage, make sure its a live etc. You should get snake or spider that you can feed once every two weeks to a month.

Yeah but if I’m going to have a rodent for 2-5 years I’d rather invest that time and money to a dog

We had some growing up. Don’t really see the point in them they don’t do anything and they smell
