Tossed on a technicality by this judge.
The Notary Public fricked up and didn't indicate that all parties were present when the signatures were done. This is what happens when you pay a cheapo Notary versus using someone who knows what they are doing. On something this important, they should have used an attorney or (if they did) that dude is looking at a malpractice claim.

To show you how fricking bullshite the 2015 will being thrown out is, here is Brandt in 2018 at Argos with his granddaughter.
He was having a ball that night and completely normal in every way. He didnt freaking die of dementia, he got pancreatic cancer and it took him quick in 2019

On both wills 4 years apart?

yes...its been going on for a while now...didnt she just win?
She got a ruling tossing out the 2019 and 2015 wills, putting the 2010 will in effect, which has her in charge.
She issued a statement that day saying it was time for the family "to heal". Same time, she had her attorneys sending over eviction papers to the kid and grandkids.

They can appeal, which is what I would do.

I've heard the penalty for a notary if they do something like this is pretty stiff....like a huge fine and possible jail time

Wife doesn't like this one bit, so sues to have the 2019 and 2015 wills tossed. She wins. The 2010 will is now in effect, which places her in charge of everything.
All these people live in neighboring houses by Metairie CC, all of which are part of the estate. Mom is trying to now evict her child and grandchildren, so she can sell the houses.
Remember friends, mo' money, mo' problems.
Also remember: money doesn't change people, it unmasks them.

They can appeal,
by the time this is over there probably won't be much left of the estate

The judge is an absolute piece of shite. Dont let him off the hook either. Wills dont even need to be notarized at all
This ruling is ridiculous, this Will meets more than the standard needed to be legitimate
ETA: Actually, it looks like Louisiana law is specific here, because we are fricking retards. This dead man doesnt get his will as he wants do to a technicality. Yay Louisiana

you can adopt adult aged grandchildren? What about the grandchildren's parents? Did they get adopted as well?

I have seen this exact thing happen to a guy I know. He just lost his notary title and stamp, that is all.

Kinda a bitch move for a mom to frick her kids.
People get absolutely stupid when someone dies/is at the end of life and they have a chance of benefiting from it.
When my Mom died in December, my Grandmother had to change her will to reflect my Uncle as executor and for me to receive my Mom's half. There's already been some blowback over it as I'll receive an allotment she already designated for the grandchildren as well as Mom's half. So my dumbass cousins are already crying about it, as they were hoping with my Mom's death my Uncle would inherit the rest (outside of what she set aside for the grandkids) and one of them would end up with the house.
I'm fully prepared for that to be an unmitigated shitshow.

How can a person's wishes be reversed? He wanted it to go to who he wanted it to go to!

Sounds like a bar exam question. Why did the court toss the newer wills? I assume there were form issues? Lack of mental lucidity? Written under duress? Falsified?

Maybe I'm just not a money hungry bitch, but I would think there would be enough money around to spread to out to keep the old bat secure enough in her lavish livings for her remaining years and still leave the children and grandchildren what he chose to be left to them. I doubt he left her penniless.
It's his money, he can leave it all to the Korean Refugee Fund if he'd like. For the wills to be thrown out on a 'technicality' reeks of some type of kickback.
It is strange that he'd let a notary public handle a multi-million dollar estate will though. I think there is a lot here we don't know.
