As others have said, much of it is gone. We drove some of it a few years ago from Amarillo to Kingman in a U-Haul. We felt like Link and Todd, with a less cool ride.
Must sees for that run (for me): Cadillac Ranch, the Crater, and the corner in Winslow.

Yes, but the portion I was on wasn’t very scenic. I had bought a Porsche 911 on-line from a guy in Chicago and was driving it back to Baton Rouge. I decided to take a non-interstate route for a while, not realizing it was Route 66 until I saw a sign. It was through Illinois, which isn’t very scenic, so it was mainly the novelty of driving my car on it that made it neat.

Have driven several sections: Illinois. California, and from Kansas-Missouri border to OK City. In every state you have to do a bit of searching online to find a good route with a number of sights. Actual 66 roads are typically rough, since interstates were put in near the path.
Most entertaining was the 12 mile portion in Kansas.I also found each state has booklets or maps highlighting 66, since it the anniversary year. And I have plans to complete the Route next year, taking at least 2 trips to do so.

Yep. It goes west to Angola, left turn just north of St. Francisville.

We did it several times when I was a kid in the early 70s. They probably haven’t changed the sheets at the roadside motels.

I got my kicks on Route 66 in Williams, Flagstaff, and Kingman, AZ. Williams is cool.

There are portions of the original road around Bristow, ok.
Not wide at all. Concrete and bumpy. Very, very bumpy.

I've been on short stretches of it, such as driving through Tucumcari, NM.
There's not much left and there are a lot of parts that aren't that scenic.

Feel like every dipshit hiding from the law imagines themself hiding out in some motel along Route 66.
So if you ever stay in some motel alone Route 66 you’re probably staying with some dipshit hiding from the law.

Search for Samantha Brown Places to Love Route 66 episodes. She covered it from Chicago to the Pacific over several episodes in recent seasons.
At least some of the episodes are on YouTube. All are on the PBS Passport app.
