EBRPSO is a model of efficiency compared to BRPD.

Yes, but I’m mad about Sid backing the Bridge Center debacle and then bailing.

You do realize that this is something that citizens of EBR Parish have been paying for years upon years? It's not a new tax at all. It's just a renewal so that the EBRSO can function.

Yes, and it may be important.
The thing is our parish leaders pile on so many other taxes and they never prioritize which services are most important. They pass new taxes on top of the old taxes even though there are large surpluses piling up in different agencies even though we have greater needs in other areas.
Our situation needs a complete overhaul.

This one isn't the hill to die on. That tax funds the EBRSO which is the only competently managed local law enforcement left in this parish. Normally, I'd vote no on any tax measure, but not this one.

Do you trust today's BRPD (really their leadership, not the rank and file officers) to knock rioters' peepees into the dirt?

I live in St. George. I wouldn’t count on Broome for anything.

ETA: I believe it will pass and my vote is just a protest vote plus I detest these tax votes which are held during these very low key elections.

If this tax measure fails, how does that affect St. George's policing? I mean, sure, you'll be paying the EBRSO for service directly once the city is up and running, but what if the overall health of the sheriff's office drops because the parish as a whole cut their funding?

I hate that we're fricking having this discussion about the damned sheriff while every other shitty useless tax passes with no problem. This parish is fricked.

i mean it is pretty common knowledge here with why St George was formed, that Baton Rouge grossly over pays BRPD where the whole parrish has to foot the bill rather then the areas they patrol.

We need less police and less taxes, voting for eliminating the tax is the only reasonable vote.

As a St George voter, how would this affect the Sheriff's Dept?
